Skylar's P.O.V.

Wake the fuck up! I yell for the millionth time since I've been in this weird trance. I know I'm still sleeping but I can feel that they need me. My body burns with the desire to get the hell up and help those around me but for some damn reason I can't. I can't wake up. I can't help my family. And I can't kill that bitch of a vampire that's tormenting us. Rage breathes through me as I take my transparent hand through my rats nest of hair.

Fog clings to my sides, no longer bothering me, as I walk aimlessly through this peaceful nightmare. My wolf trails behind me silently, searching this grand mystery for an exit. A few times, I've seen bodies racing out of sight or simply vanishing as my eyes land on them, making me angrier. Whoever the hell this is, they are messing with me. Toying with my consciousness and I can't say that I'm exactly thrilled to play along with them. It's like child's play. I can tell that they want me to find them but how can I find a thing that I can't see?

Settling on the ground again, my eyes seal themselves shut as my other senses kick in and take control of me. Inhaling sharply, a sweet, unforgettable scent twirls into my nose. Without realizing it, my feet glide towards the heavenly scent, stopping dead in the centre of the blissful smell. Opening my eyes, I'm face to face with my mothers soothing eyes, her timeless face smiling at me.

Tears prick at the back of my eyes but I won't allow them to fall. She looks the same as she had the last day I'd seen her, beautiful. Her dazzling blue eyes soften as she pulls me in for a tight hug and I don't hesitate to reciprocate the action. My mom is back! My arms tighten around her small frame as my body is raked with a new wave of unshed tears. Years of heart ache all spill out as I revert to a child, clinging to my mother for support and guidance.

Her heavenly touch soothes me as my crying subsides. Pulling away from the embrace, she stares into my eyes and her smile only grows wider.

"You've grown." Anew wave of sadness threatens to over come me as she speaks. Nothing has changed. Her sweet smile did not morph into something malicious, her eyes remain caring and loving, even in death. All of it is the same and too overwhelming. "You're just as beautiful as I'd imaged you'd be but we don't have much time. You're family needs you."

By this time my crying has stopped and my attention was back on my mothers fading appearance.

"I can't allow you to stay here, it's not your time and I can't allow you to pass through here. Tell me love, how much do you care for her? Your mate."

Without hesitation, I answer her question honestly. My heart flutters as I speak of her, making my skin tingle just thinking about the girl. She is mine and I'm damn proud of that. After listening to my rant, her smile remains on her face as she looks truly happy for me. "And what are you willing to give up for her?"

"Everything." My voice, unwavering. Nodding her head she gives me one more hug before my vision begins to give up on me. Her mouth moves but I can't hear her as the darkness wins over my consciousness.

Waking up in a cold sweat, I clutch the silk sheets that protect my feeble body. Adjusting to the new darkness, my senses kick themselves into over drive as the sickening scent of blood drifts into my nose. Hoping out of bed, I crumple to the floor as my legs aren't use to walking after being out of commission for god knows how long. How long had I been out? I'll figure that out later. Picking myself up off the floor, I throw the door open just as Barron enters. His broad chest takes me by surprise as I stumble back a bit. His eyes hold so many emotions but I don't have time to decipher them. Brushing past him, I walk out the door and race towards the lower levels of the house. She has to be there. Running through the long and unnecessary pathway, my feet pound against the floor until I'm behind the large oak door leading to the children's play room.
