Skylar's P.O.V.
Eric is shaking under my hard glare and Melissa is trying her hardest not to. Caleb sits on the couch opposite the desk with an annoying smirk on his face.
"When were you planning on telling the pack? Or me for that case since I am, again, up for trade?" I ask in my calmest tone, barely controlling the anger that surges through me.
"Look. Skylar. You have to understand that we need this. It co--"
"Are you sure the pack needs this?" I say gesturing to my brother. "His pack is in shambles and you want to annex it? Are you kidding?" I ask in utter shock.
"What did you think you could possibly gain from power hungry mutts? For them to listen to your every whim? That they would magically choose to follow the all mighty Alpha Eric?" I laugh humourlessly. "Don't kid yourself."
Caleb shifts uncomfortably on the couch and I laugh at that too.
"Have you not told them the condition of your pack, Caleb?" My glare hardens as I look at him. His once tanned complexion is now pale and the confident smile that he wore earlier is now gone.
'Pathetic.'
"What is the current status of your pack n--"
"You didn't know what his pack was like and yet you still agreed to having me lead the savages? Unbelievable. How are you an Alpha." I ask, truly mind blown. He growls viscously at me but I don't show any signs of fear. I keep my cold glare trained on his now shaking body.
"You can go. NOW! I'll handle the rest. Thank you Skylar." Melissa wraps her hand around his, trying to calm him and I just scoff and turn away from the ugly scene. Sneaking one look at my brother, I can tell by his demeanour that he knows that his little ploy failed.
It's been roughly three hours since I left so I hope that the warriors have returned with the items. Otherwise my day will continuously get shitty.
'You cannot let your anger out on them. Control yourself!' My wolf states in my head as I lean against a tree, trying my hardest to calm myself. Breathing in and out, I close my eyes and pinch the brim of my nose, coaxing myself into a more tranquil state.
Pushing off of the tree, I jog towards the arena and find all of the warriors waiting, all looking accomplished. One by one they hand me each pebble that I hid throughout the vast forest and this eases some tension from my mood.
"Great job. Now, get to sparring."
They all bow and run off to their stations. Heading towards the weapons arena, I usher Antonia, the specialist, to gather up 15 people that were slacking off since I was gone. Five minutes later, she piles in with the slackers who straighten up once they see me.
"Didn't I tell you that there would be consequences?" My cold glare fixed on all of them. Most of them hardly ever lose and yet when I leave, they think it's okay to goof around?
"Ready yourselves." I say and they all scurry over the weapon racks, looking for their best. I grab a bo staff and wait for them to ready themselves. Antonia and I engage in small talk waiting for the slackers to pick their weapons and after some one clears their throat I know that they are ready.
I smile at Antonia, encouraging her to start the battle and once she does they do not hesitate to attack. Five of the fifteen charge me directly while the other ten circle around me, trying to close off my escape routes.
Spinning my staff, I block all of their lazy attacks, knocking their weapons free from their hands. Thrusting the staff forward, I hit someone in their jugular with the butt of the staff, hearing a satisfying crack. Knocking the air out of them, I smash down with the other end, effectively fracturing their clavicle.
I spin the staff around my back, deflecting the attacks coming from behind. They are sent off balance and I use this as an escape and backflip out of the makeshift prison.
Rushing back at them, I strike downwards onto an unsuspecting shoulder and he crumples and screams from the pain that races through his veins.
'Two down.'
Breaking their own formation, four charge at me with pointed blades as I take my attacking stance. Using one hand, I spin my staff in a circular motion, blocking three and use my other hand to block the oncoming blade, disarming him in an instant.
My foot launches into his chest, sending him on his ass and I use my grounded staff as a post and swing around, kicking the other three in the face. Their bodies lurch backwards but the force from my staff begin brought down upon them sends them straight into the sand accompanied by a loud thud.
The remaining eleven shakily advance towards me as I drop my staff and ready myself for the next wave. By the looks of it, none of them plan on attacking so using my enhanced speed, I appear right before them and send a deviation knee into one of their chins. The sound of bones breaking reverberates throughout the forest.
Still suspended in the air, My foot sweeps around and connects with a few jaws.
Roughly four bodies spiral backwards as I land and I charge straight for the other, not giving them a chance to retaliate.
"I GIVE!" They all yell almost simultaneously and I stop but I'm ashamed.
I don't even look at their cowering bodies and call for Santiago and Barron.
"Finish them off." They nod and head into the arena.
