Skylar's P.O.V.

Children are like elements on the periodic table. Some of them you need, in large quantities, to survive while other, if you have too much, are toxic. Becky, well that girl is like oxygen. She keeps me going and despite all the shit, good or bad, that I do she stays with me. Lana, on the other hand, is like uranium. The slightest amount of her kills me, makes me nauseous and a hand full of other things not to mention I've only known the kid for not even two days. It's hell. I mean, why can't every child be like Becky? What's so bad about liking me? I'm pretty nice but that demon spawn jus--

"She's not a demon spawn. She's just not used to you babe." Havana corrects, with a slight slap to the back of my head. An involuntary growl erupts from my chest, granting me a deadly look from my beautiful mate. My growl morphs into a pitiful whimper, my wolf upset from angering our mate. Snuggling into her side, begging for her forgiveness, I wrap my arms around her slim waist and look up at her with pleading eyes, patiently waiting for her to relent her angry scowl.

Sighing, she runs her hand through my hair as her expression softens. "Babe, you just have to give her time. She's not use to sharing the attention that she's getting, okay? You know I love you, more than anything, but I want her to feel as safe with me as I do with you." Her soft lips plant a kiss on my head, silently promising that she'll warm up to me.

"Okay hun. I believe you... and I'm sorry." Again, my eyes meet hers and I wait for her to forgive my childish behavior. Chuckling, she kisses me again this time full on the lips. She pulls away, despite my whimpers and resumes running her fingers through my hair.

"How do you feel about others sleeping in our room?" I ask her, feeling them approach us quickly. Looking up, I can tell that Havana doesn't know how to process her information so I get up, walking to the door before they can knock. Twisting the knob, I pull the door back allowing Havana to see the two girls standing behind it. Jess and Nicole, the two girls from before, stand, mouths agape and motionless. "Well babe?" I ask again, dragging her out of her stupor.

"Well, sure love. Are they sleeping on the couch or..?" She leave the question open ended, honestly not sure of what I'm to do. Smiling, I welcome the two into the room and lead them towards our pull out couch.

"You guys can sleep here. I know neither of you speak much but if you need anything, just ask and I'll try to get it, alright." Nodding slightly, they both climb into the bed, snuggling close to one another. With a smile, I retreat back to my love and quickly snuggle back into her side.

"You know when we first met and you always called yourself a monster and all?" She recalls, laying down and faces me, still secured in my arms.

"Mhm."

"I still don't believe it. You always warned me that I was falling for an undeserving monster but you've only proved to me that you're far from that. You're kind, loving, protective, understanding, so many things in one and none of them being negative. So why do you think you're a monster?" She inquires, stroking my cheek gently, staring right at me through her warm golden eyes.

Smiling, I cup the hand that rest in my cheek, responding, "I've been a monster from the day I was born. You don't see it because you love me too much and it's blinding you and they don't see it now but they will and they'll be afraid." I tell her the honest truth, my face saddening by the second. She sends me a sad smile before snuggling into my neck, sighing and sending shivers down my spine.

"Well, monster or not, I'll always love you. Not because I have to but because I can't see myself living with you. I need and accept all of your "monster" habits, okay?" Her hot breath massages my skin, releasing butterflies throughout my body.

"Okay and babe? I love you too." Her lips from a smile before she drifts off to sleep.

"Keep up the pace! If you go any slower you'll be insulting me. Is it to easy? Should I make it harder? Or are you just too lazy to try to your fullest extent?" Santiago bellowed as the newest pack members did their laps in the area. Of course he knows that they aren't the most fit or active but he's been too soft on them according to David. 'If they can survive hell for years I'm sure that they can do a few laps at a faster pace.'

I choose to run with them. It wouldn't be fair to bark orders at them if I didn't put myself in the same situation and some of them look like they just might die here in the track so I have to watch for that as well. Jess and Nicole are doing a fine job leading the pack. I can feel their fatigue but they refuse to show any weakness.

"Give them a break. They're dying. We've been doing laps for six hours and some of their hearts are about to give." I tell Santiago through our link and he immediately calls for a break. The majority of the group drops to the floor, panting like dogs in the heat. Jess and Nicole approach me, both sweaty messes, but they seem fine.

"Do you guys want water or something? You just went six hours without stooping for any breaks." I question. They both shake their heads, still not voicing their opinion. Smiling, I nod my head and head towards Santiago, Kota and Harry with Jess and Nicole hot on my trial.

"When will they be ready to spar. We've been running them like dogs but they haven't seen a second of battle." My face holds a scowl as I look upon the others before me.

"We were thinking they could start sparring on the next cycle. Also, we think they should log some time on their own, especially if they want some sort of improvement." Harry states, looking over my shoulder and at the two girls behind me.

"Alright. We'll make an announcement. Where's David?"

"He's running the border with Greg and Claire. They should be back within the next hour."

Nodding my head, I tell Santiago to release everyone and tell them of their needs to practice on their own, which he does immediately. By the time everyone has left, I'm left in the arena with Jess and Nicole, neither of them saying anything while I brutally assault my punching bag.

"Are you guys gonna stay there and watch or are you guys gonna practice?" I ask, not taking my eyes off of my goal. I hear the sound of shuffling feet behind me and soon enough, they engage in a sparring match of their own.

Finishing up my session, I turn and find them sweaty and panting but refusing to give up. Walking towards their match I stop and observe, awe struck by their ability. For two small, teenage girls, they've got a lot of fight and power. They don't care about hurting their friend because they know that it'll be a disservice to each other.

"Alpha, come quickly to the house. Now!" Sensing their panic, I dart up the stairs and out of the old tree, back towards my home. Jess and Nicole must have noticed my discomfort, because they are darting after me, despite my speed. Bursting through the back door, I race after their scents, which are accompanied with a foul stentch, and run faster in the direction my nose leads me. Ripping open my door, my anger rockets as I glare at the two vampires, leisurely leaning against my desk, holding onto Havana's brother.

"Bab- "

Her words fade into the back as my wolf takes control.
