This is a question i hate.
They ask if you're okay but they don't care for the answer.
The "correct" answer is "yes", since you have to be okay; it's an invitation to lie.
They use it as more of a statement than a question, "Are you okay?" Is actually "You're okay."
You can't say you're not okay, because they take it as a joke, don't care, give you forced positivity, invalidate why you're not okay without even knowing why, etc.
There's also the fact that sometimes you want to admit you're not okay and need help, but you don't want to bother others, or your problems are something you don't want others to get involved in regardless of how bad you're doing.
But then there are those that actually care and try to help you the best they can. These are the ones you should keep close.
