Richie and his mother left the front door before she stopped to lock it and protect all the belongings on the inside. Meanwhile she was doing this the tall boy made his way to the car and climbed in the passenger side. As he did so, he took a glance at the back just to double check that Hollys car seat was all ready for her to slide into.
Holly was the closest thing Richie had to his sanity at the moment. She made him happy and he enjoyed teaching her new things and doing things with her to make her happy. She was sad when their dad left but it was for the better, he was abusive towards their mom and he was nothing but an alcoholic. Richie has vivid memories of the way his dad treated their mom and it was horrible. The boy swore to himself that once the waste of space was gone from their lives he would be a better son and a better big brother.
Mrs Tozier climbed into the car. "Why don't you ask Eddie round for tea tomorrow? But you have to actually go to school" she said with a small chuckle as she placed the car key into the hole and turned it so the car engine could roar. Richie shrugged and looked out the window. All he wanted to focus on right now was his sister. "Does Holly need bathing tonight?" He asked calmly even though he was shaking from anger. His mom murmured back in response. "I have to work late at the hospital again but theres money on the side if you and Holly if you want to get Mcdonalds or something." Richie smiled "thanks mom".
She placed her heavy foot down on the peddle and started to drive the play school that his little sister attends, shes only just started doing full days. Its brilliant. "Do you want me to run in and get her?" His mother asked as she parked the car in her usual spot. Richie shook his head and climbed out. After he shut the door he slid his hands into his pockets and made his way into the school playground and round to the room that he collects Holly from.
She ran out with open arms and hugged Richie as tight as she could. Of course, he did nothing but hug her back just as tight but not tight enough to hurt her. After their long hug he stood up and took her backpack from her, swung it over his shoulder and then picked her up. "What did you do at school today?" He asked with a beaming smile. "We painted, i painted you and mommy a picture to put on the fridge." She replied with excitement lacing her tone of voice.
"Mom has to work late tonight but ill look after you okay?" She nodded. They finally reached the car and opened the back door. He slid her into her car seat and made sure she was plugged in properly. He then chucked the bag on the seat next to her and got back in the passenger seat. "Good day sweetheart?" Her mother asked as the car started once again. She nodded and looked out the window. Richie put his belt on and glanced back before his mom took them home.
