"mommy!" morgan exclaimed and ran up to her mom, almost like a little kid. it made me smile to see something so pure.

"hi love." her mom chuckled and wrapped her arms around her daughters waist. once they let each other go, her mom looked at me.

"and who might this be?" she said in a teasing voice.

morgan cleared her throat and fixed her posture. "this is my friend finn. we were going over some notes from math." she stumbled over the word 'friend', causing me to hold back a smile.

"nice to meet you miss galaes." i greeted, and put my hand out to shake hands.

"oh don't call me that! that's too formal, just call me jen." she shooed my hand away and gave me a tight hug.

"are you staying for dinner?" jen asked and i looked over at morgan for an answer.

"if you want to, you can." morgan shrugged but i saw a hopeful look in her eyes.

"yeah, i'll stay." i said and she smiled almost instantaneously, making my heart flutter.

"okay so i'm gonna wash up really quickly and get started on dinner."

"what are you making?" morgan's brother asked from the sofa.

"ribs, mashed potatoes and string beans." jen explained.

"you want any help?" asked her husband which she responded with a shrug. "not really but if you want to, you can start on the potatoes."

he nodded and got up from the couch and walked into the kitchen.

"well you guys can continue working, didn't mean to interrupt." her mom apologized which was totally unnecessary.

morgan looked at me and we made a silent agreement to go back upstairs. so we went back upstairs to her room, to continue studying.

i sat down on her computer chair and rolled towards her. she sat on her bed and started picking at her fingers.

"so, the kiss." i trailed off once her eyes flickered up to mine.

"it was good, amazing even. it's just, that was my first kiss and it kind of shocked me because i enjoyed it so much." she rambled and i couldn't help the grin that made its way to my face.

"you're so cute." i mumbled.

"shut up." she groaned.

"what? why?"

"i don't like compliments."

"well you better get used to them." she shook her head with a chuckle and look at her scabbed fingers, which was now bleeding.

"what the hell? morgan!" i took her blood dripping hand in mine and investigated the cut.

"why did you do that?" i asked.

"i didn't mean to make it bleed so much, i was just picking at it."

"do you have any bandaids?"

"there should be some stuff in that drawer." she pointed to her computer desk and i followed her directions.

i got what i was looking for and rolled back over to her.

"how about we not pick at our fingers." i offered.

"it's not that easy to just stop a habit." she mumbled as i put a little bit of the neosporin on her gash.

"doesn't it hurt?"

"i mean, yeah."

"then why do you do it?"

"i dunno. it's a different type of- i don't know how to explain it but i don't know." she repeated herself.

i chuckled a bit. "it's alright."

"well i smell the food being prepared and i'm pretty sure it's almost done so let's get washed up."

we got up and went into he bathroom to wash our hands and then we went into the kitchen to see the food in pan and pots.

morgan grabbed me and her a plate and eating utensils.

we served ourselves and sat down at the dinner table.

let's dig in

to say that dinner went good is a understatement.

everyone made jokes and everyone was heard when they wanted to speak. i didn't really speak much, since it was my first time here, i mainly just wanted to observe.

i made a few jokes here and there but mostly laughed at theirs.

her family was really funny and understanding when their children spoke about how they felt throughout the day. they had solutions for the problems their children had, and worked out any arguments that was brought up.

they were pretty cool.

"i'm gonna take finn home, i'll be back." she grabbed her keys off the hook and i grabbed my bag from next to the door.

"thanks for coming over finn. hope you had a good time." morgan's dad patted my back.

"i had a great time, thanks for inviting me." i said.

"you're welcomed to come over anytime. a friend of morgan, is a friend of ours." jen spoke cheerfully.

"aww thank you."

"come on." morgan said from outside the door.

i waved bye to her brother and left the house, closing the door behind me.

"dinner was good." morgan started.

"yeah, she's a really good cook." i compliment even though the person i should be complimenting wasn't around.

"she is, i love my mom so much."

"thanks for inviting me over, it was fun." i said as we pulled up to my house.

"yeah of course." she mumbled. there wasn't a smile on her face anymore, more like a frown.

"you don't have to look so sad, i'll see you tomorrow. we still have school." i said which made her frown jerk a bit but not too noticeable.

"true." she agreed.

"i gotta get inside, and let you get back home so i'll go."

"bye."

i was about to head out but i quickly turned back around.

i grabbed her chin and pulled her lips to mine until they connected with a sweet kiss.

"i'll see you later." the smile that was previously on her face returned, giving me the okay to leave.

she waved and i got out of the car.

i like her

a lot.
