More Than Words

Inigo's POV

I came to school too early and I never expecting to see Maris alone inside our classroom. She's still sits on the same spot. Then I walked in slowly and quietly til I seated beside her.

"she is really something. " I thought as I scan her while she's asleep. Now we're facing to each other. O-oh do I look creepy now?

I almost jump out of my chair when she suddenly open her eyes and speak.

"andito ka na pala." looking confused.

"ah-ahm yeah, Good Morning. " haay I can feel my heart beating fast.

"Good morning din." she smiled and then yawned.

"why are you so early today? " Geez, I can feel my face getting hot so I pretend reading a book.

"lets say that I don't want to walk in the middle of the crowd kaya pumasok ako ng maaga." she paused.

"hmm teka may sakit ka ba? , parang namumula ka. " she put her hand on my forehead while the other one on hers to check our temp.

"ah hehe sorry." It looks like she did not realise what she was doing.

"okay lang. " then she laughed.

"what's funny?" I asked.

"wala lang, hehe ang cool kasi pag nagsasalita ka ng Tagalog." she's still laughing.

"hmm, talaga? " I spoke in Tagalog again cause she said it's cool.

"hehe alam ko na. Hmm may challenge ako sayo today." then she became so serious.

"ano naman yan? " me curiously asked her.

"what if magsalita ka ng Tagalog habang wala pang class, then sa break din hanggang maguwian mamaya." woah, what a challenge huh.

"oh, no way. Are you kidding? " I can't believe of what she just said.

"yes way. Sige na kaya mo yan, isipin mo na this is the easiest way for you to learn until you get used to it." too much to ask for a girl like her but I like it.

"oh sige. " I said with conviction.

"hehe okay, sige ahm isip tayo ng topic." she looked up.

"sige ano na lang, pag-usapan natin kung ano ang plano mo after natin makagraduate next year? " that's kinda long but I think I understood it.

"ahm. Siguro I'll stay.. Wait how do you say stay in Tagalog?" Its harder than I thought.

"stay ahm mananatili. " sabi niya.

"mana.. ma..manana..tili" I sound mumbling.

"sabihin mo ulit. " she commands.

"plano ko mananatili dito sa Pilipinas." she claps like a child.

I spent almost an hour learning Tagalog with Maris. It's worth it.

Author's POV

"aba ang aga niyo ah. Anong meron? " nang dumating si Joshua at naabutan sina Maris at Inigo na nag-uusap.

"game Inigz sabihin mo kay Joshua bakit maaga ka pumasok." sabi ni Maris na mukhang excited kay Inigo na magsalita.

"kasi para magpaturo ng Tagalog kay Maris di ba? " ani ng binata mukhang napabilib naman si Maris sa bilis matuto nito.

"ayos yan para di na kami nano-nose bleed sa iyo hehe." biro ni Joshua.

Di nagtagal at isa isa ng dumating ang mga kaibigan nila hanggang sa magsimula na ang klase. As usual lectures. Habang nagsho-short quiz ay bigla napukaw ang atensyon nila nang magsalita ang Prof matapos kunin ang akala niyang palamuti sa front table.
