("Comparison is the theif of joy." -Theodore Roosevelt)
I spent the rest of my day walking around the campus and admring the views. I definitely didn't want to go back to see Sophie, Niall, Sabrina and Harry again. They were talking about parties, weed, drugs, alcohol and sex. I am not interested in any of those topics. Before they could drag me into one party themselves, I excused myself out of the room. It is just Harry who is nice to me at the moment. He is the only one who dragged me inside the room and started a conversation with me. All the others think I am a burden.
I slowly walk through the reception and see Martha dozing off on the desk. "Good night." I whsper to her and walk up the stairs with my hands slid into my pockets. I silently push the dorm room open and thankfully find no one inside. I grab my toiletary bag and head off downstairs to the shared bathroom to take a late night shower. As for my lunch and dinner, I didn't have any of it.
..
My alarm goes off too early for me. I roll on my bed and look at the time on my phone to find it to be 6am. The realisation hits me that it's my first day of College.
By now, I dislike everything about this dorm building except for the fact that the bathroom can only be used by girls and boys cannot break the rules tand barge in there. After taking a shower in the crowded bathroom, I dress up in some normal sweats. It is the first day of Autumn today and the winds have already started blowing by. I recheck all the stationary in my bag and pull it over my shoulder. I make sure to lock the the room before heading to the campus for the first time.
I walk on the pathways and start smoothing down my outfit and hair. I hate leaving my hair down. It probably makes my face look worse. It is basically up in an usual ponytail that is secured by a clear plastic hair band. I see girls and boys jumping over the fences and getting to the campus in a shortcut. Why are people so stupid? Why can't they follow some simple rules? For these kind of people, the world is not the best place to live in still now.
I walk out the dorm campus and turn right to enter the main campus. It's huge. Buildings are curved into old British style. The buildings bring a smile onto my face. Chattering boys and girls fill my ears. Some freshmen are wondering around desperate for a friend while others are getting picked on my the seniors. I walk past a guy who got intentionally pushed over before I could warn him. The 'popular' freshmen are flipping their hair or having a laugh within their groups.
As I walk ahead, Sabrina's pink head is leaning at the main entrance of a huge brown building. She is dressed in a mini skirt and a cropped top followed by high heels. I ignore her and attempt to walk past. I didn't expect her to ditch me like that last night. I thought she was a friend that I can rely on. She completly turned me down yesterday. "Tarish! Wait!" Oh sure. I hear footsteps clicking behind me but I completely ignore it and steady my pace. Sabrina grabs on to my arm and spins me around with great force. "What the fuck do you think you are doing?" Her lips sparkle as it movs because of her excessive lip gloss.
"I am going to my first lesson." I say pulling my arm away from her grip.
"No I mean what the fuck is wrong with your clothing sense? Dude, you are a fucking teenager and you need to dress up like one. I mean this," she pauses to wave her hand in front of my sweats, "is not acceptable here." her nose scrunches up in disgust.
"I do whatever I feel like doing. You have lost your right to speak to me like that." without a further word, I walk off in the building for my first lesson which is Mathematics.
As I enter the class, I find only a few people chatting amongst each other. I sigh in relief for not being late on my very first day. I look around the classroom to find a good sitting spot. My eyes fall on an empty seat beside the window. I make my way there before someone steals the perfect spot. Mathematics is my favorite subject, after English. A light brown haired boy comes in and sits beside me. His hair is swiped across his foreahead. He looks at me and cracks a beautiful smile and his sea green eyes smile along. "Hey, I am Louis." he puts his hand in the small space between us for me to shake.
