October 3, 2015

A few months had passed since I started school here at California, Myrtle and I have been getting closer each day, today is Myrtle's Birthday. So I planned a surprise for her. Her parents allowed me to come up her room for a morning wake up call. I prepared her breakfast in bed, I set the tray down on her bed side table. I carefully nudged her to wake her up.

"Myrtle, wake up." I called her name. As her eyes start to flutter open, I smiled.

She scratches her eyes and asks me.

"Devin? What are you doing here, it's too early for school." she whispers.

"Happiest birthday to you my love, I'm sorry if I woke you up too early, but I prepared you breakfast in bed for your birthday."

Her eyes grew bigger, she was speechless, she hugged me and kissed me gently on my lips. As I pulled away, I handed her the tray with her breakfast.

"Eat now, my love." I smiled at her. She takes the tray from me.

"I would if you joined me." She smiled appreciatively.

"Hold on, I need to get something downstairs, I'll be right back." I said to her.

I got down from her attic, I retrieved in my car her birthday gift, A panda stuffed toy almost as big as her and a bouquet of her favorite Stargazers, White Roses and Daisies.

I got back into her room with the stuffed toy and flowers in tow. Her eyes lit up at the sight of the big panda bear.

"Devin? You didn't have to." she said.

"I wanted to." I responded.

She sets the tray down on her bed and ran up to me to hug me, she did so with so much strength. It was a tight hug. Squishing me effectively, but I let her be.

"Thank you, I loved it. You're making me cry, I hate you." She says as she sobs into my shoulders.

"Hey, stop crying. I wanted this birthday of yours to be memorable, it's the first time I get to celebrate it with you. You can do something for me in return." I chuckled at her.

"Ugh! I'll get you back on January!" She said almost too annoyed, I find her cute when she's annoyed so I smiled at her sheepishly.

"You should eat now. The breakfast is getting cold. Come on." I smiled at her.
She goes back to her bed, I climbed up her bed and sat crossed leg. She feeds herself first and offers me the 2nd bite. We shared the pancakes, eggs and bacon. After, breakfast. I took the Tray down and washed the plates as she gets ready for school. I sat in the kitchen, having my second cup of coffee for the day with her parents.

"Thank you Uncle Gareth and Aunt Clara for letting me surprise Myrtle today."

"No big deal, Devin." Uncle Gareth replied.

"Just be careful with our daughter's heart. That's all we're asking from you." Aunt Clara said.

"I will." I finally said as I finished the second cup of coffee. Myrtle hurriedly went to the kitchen to kiss her parents good morning.

"We'll be going Mom, Dad." She said as she pulls me out the Kitchen.

"You always do that." I chuckled at her.

"What?" She says and raised an eyebrow at me.

"Pulling me away and not even letting me say goodbye to your parents properly."

"Sorry, I'm afraid to be embarrassed by them." She chuckled

"Naw, they're not going to embarrass you, even if they did, I'll love you any way." I smiled at her.
