Two Steps Behind

2nd Holiday

We decided to spend the Holiday in New York, because of school works na kailangan pa namin tapusin ni Myrtle. Our families flew in for a weekend with us. Pagtapos ng gabing iniligtas ko si Myrtle from her creep of a classmate, I decided to move back in to her pad and made sure I walked her to class and picked her up after. We spent our lunch time together too, I made it a point to do so, kahit gaano ako ka-busy, the band and my group mates in class would understand that my lunch time is off limits, this is the only time in the day na hindi ako busy, na wala akong iintindihin kung hindi si Myrtle. 

We're walking around the city with our families, magka-hawak kamay kami ni Myrtle, tahimik lang na nakasunod sa family namin na ngayon ay masaya at maingay na naglalakad sa gitna ng lamig. We are at the busiest part of New York. New York Times Square, a popular tourist spot in New York. We took the time to tour them in the city, andito din kasi ang Ate Madison ni Myrtle. When the family stopped to eat hotdogs, Ate Madison approached me. 

"Balita ko, nagcool off kayo ni Bunso ah?" Panimula nito.

"Yeah, she asked for space." I smiled at her.

"Thank you for saving her yet again doon sa classmate niyang bastos." She said to me with a smile. 

"Walang ano man po Ate Madison. I would have done it any time." I smiled at her.

"Kaya naman botong boto ako sayo Devin eh." Tatawa-tawa nitong sagot sa akin. 

"Ate, ginigisa mo nanaman si Devin ha?" Myrtle admonished her. 

"Hey, I was just thanking her, diba Devin?" Ate Madison asked me for confirmation.

"Yes, love. Nag-thank you lang si ate." I said to Myrtle as I held her hand in mine, while she held a hotdog to her mouth. 

"Hay naku Ate, siguraduhin mo lang, kapag si Devin natakot sa mga pinag-sasabi mo, lagot ka sakin." may pagbabanta niyang sabi sa ate niya na ngayon ay naka-ngisi lang sa kanya.

"Bunso, she's a bad ass woman. She won't be scared of you or of anything I tell her." Ate Madison laughed at Myrtle. 

"Love, oh have a bite." Myrtle said as she gives me a bite of her hotdog.

"Ay sus, ang tamis mo talaga bunso." Natatawang sabi ni Ate Madison as I took a bite of her hotdog. 

"Ate naman eh." pagmamaktol ni Myrtle sa ate niya. 

"Bakit kasi hindi mo binilhan ng hotdog si Devin?" sabi naman ni Ate Madison.

"Hindi ko naman kasi mauubos to no." sagot naman ni Myrtle.

"Madison, tama na kantyaw mo dyan sa kapatid mo. Hayaan mo sila, gusto nilang mag-share eh." their Mother admonished her. 

"Mom, hindi ko naman kinakantyawan si Bunso eh." Tatawa-tawang sagot nito.

Pagtapos ay tahimik na itong lumapit sa Mommy nila. 

"Pasensiya ka na talaga kay Ate." Myrtle said to me apologetically. 

"Buti na lang wala akong kapatid." Natatawa kong sabi kay Myrtle.

"Buti na lang talaga love, kundi you'll get the same treatment as Ate does to me." She chuckled at me.

We had Dinner at our Family's Hotel and we went back to our flat that same night. The rest of the night, we spent doing our home work for school, we have been putting things off the past few days that we haven't had the time to start the home work we were assigned. Buti na lang at solo work lang ito. She sat at the drafting table sitting on the corner of her room, While I sat on the floor, silently listening to the music our professor assigned to me, we were supposed to listen to 5 musical pieces and do an analysis, I have an earphone on one of my ears habang ang isa ay hindi nakasuot.
