Two Steps Behind

Myrtle's Day

It's been a few months since our Third Year in college started. Just like what we predicted, naging busy kami pareho sa school, it was not easy but we handled it fine. This coming week, we'll be doing our first tour, sa New Jersey on a Friday night. Pero bago yun ay magbibirthday nanaman si Myrtle. How time flies, aligaga nanaman ako na bigyan siya ng surprise for her upcoming birthday. It's her 19th Birthday this coming Wednesday. I have a week to come up with a surprise for her.

I was handling school work and a band practice to add to the hectic schedule. I am currently at the recording studio, polishing a track we would soon release. Nasa editing process na ako ng track na ito, ito ang dapat ko sanang kanta na ibibigay sa kanya nung 18th Birthday nya. The song title is Barcelona, the reason being is that, she dreams to go there someday. It was one of the things we talked about, doing someday. To travel the world together. I was thinking about giving her this before we release it to the public. I was brought out of my reverie by Arden and Aria. 

"Uy, Devin! Anong plano mo na para sa birthday ni Myrtle?" excited na tanong sa akin ni Aria. 

"Oo nga naman, last year hindi ka nagpasikat." Natatawa namang sagot ni Arden. 

"Kung ok lang sa inyo, I plan to give her this Track I'm editing as an exclusive sneak peak to our next album." Sabi ko na sa kanila.

"That's fine, we don't have any issues with that. Tsaka ikaw naman ang nagcompose ng track na yan." Sagot ni Arden sa akin. 

"Kaso, one more problem." I informed them.

"Oh ano nanaman?" Sabi ni Aria. 

"Nawawalan na ako ng ideas for how I will give this to her. Walang pakulo." I said frustrated at what's happening.

"Hey, calm down. You don't really need to do anything grand, cook her dinner or take her out for dinner. Give her the file or you can sing it for her." Arden and Aria suggested.

"You guys are brilliant!" I exclaimed to them, laughing at my own unfortunate state of mind. 

"Jusko, Aria, may nababaliw nanaman, tara na nga at kumain muna tayo." Sabi ni Arden sa girlfriend niya at tsaka sila naupo sa couch.

Tatawa-tawa lang ako sa reaction nila, they were both shaking their heads at me.

October 3, 2018

A week has passed, sobrang naging hectic ang buong linggo ko. Aside from recording tracks in the studio ay kasalukuyan na din kaming gumagawa ng mga school group projects namin, sabayan pa ng birthday ni Myrtle. I planned a dinner at my flat, dahil pareho pa kaming underaged, walang alcoholic beverage.

I set up the terrace in my room with led lights, white sheets, lots of pillows, I built a fort. I also set up a speaker that will play the music. Pag-alis ni Myrtle ko na inayos ito, nauna na siya sa school, dahil maaga ang pasok nito. While ako ay mamaya pang after lunch. There were candles all over it.

The weather is getting colder in New York, pero hindi na kasing init. Tamang tama lang for a night out at the terrace. I covered the view with a white sheet, I tested the lights and the speakers to make sure they were alright. Inadjust ko ang volume para hindi makabulabog.

After a few moments, Drei and the band arrived at my condo, kasama sila Abby at Batch, wala kasi silang pasok today, kami lang tatlo ni Myrtle at Cara ang may pasok. Sila ang naatasan ko na ayusin ang mga kailangan para sa surprise dinner ko with Myrtle.

Sila Drei at Charlie ang mag-set up ng dinner table, Si Aria at Arden ang mag-serve ng food, Si Batch ang magluluto ng dinner namin at si Abby ang magbake ng Cake para sa birthday ni Myrtle. Si Cara ang Susundo kay Myrtle, mauuna kasi kami ni Cara ng labas from Class.
