A/N Hey guys, so you might now that I also post this story on Quotev. I write it on there first and then copy it over when I have the time (or, you know, when I don't forget) so that's why I haven't exactly updated this in a while. But yeah, leave any kinds of comments as long as they aren't mean--helpful criticism, comments that agree with something, or disagree if you guys can do it without being mean. . . maybe hit that plus symbol in the top right corner. . ?
Slytherin's common room looked like the polar opposite of Gryffindor's.
Not only is green on the opposite side of the color wheel from red, and silver and gold contrasted as well, but they felt different.
Instead of warm, cozy, and open, it was cold, stiff, and distant. There was an empty fireplace and the furniture was all green with green throw pillows that had silver tassels and silver, embroidered, scale-like patterns. Along with, of course, Slytherin's infamous serpent symbol.
"Wow Draco. . ," Abigail said. "You live in this place?"
He nodded, looking around thoughtfully. "When I'm at Hogwarts, obviously. I'm used to it, though, and it's not all bad."
"I get why Slytherins hate Gryffindors now," Harry said, nodding absently as he took in the common room, which had changed a bit since he'd last seen it in his second year.
Less homey, he thought. Maybe it's the lack of people. . .
Everyone looked at him questioningly.
"They're jealous of our amazing common room, friendships, courage, bravery----"
"We get it!" Draco said. "You think we're jealous. Point made."
Harry grinned cockily. "Hear that, guys? He didn't deny it!"
"I'm not jealous, Potter," Draco said to him, fuming. "Yes, I'd like the common room to feel more comfortable and welcoming, but I am a proud Slytherin."
"Um, what about. . . I mean, even after the way. . ?"
Draco shot Abigail a glare that was so cold, she visibly shrank back at least three inches.
"Like you understand." It was a mix between a murmer and a growl, and his voice broke a little.
"Subject change, anyone?" Hexa suggested, walking further into the common room without waiting for a reply. She sat on a couch and curled comfortably into a corner.
A fire ignited in the fireplace.
Draco came and sat next to Hexa. Harry convinced her to move over a little so he could sit on her other side. Abigail took a chair, forcing Zack to have a seat on a seperate, smaller couch.
Leaning on Draco now with Harry's arm lazily draped aorund her, Hexa asked again for subject ideas.
As they hiked up to Ravenclaw, Draco pointed out how stupid their plan had been.
"After Gryffindor, we should've come here, then to Hufflepuff and Slytherin last, since it's in the dungeons. There would be less walking. Much less, in fact."
"Takes up more time though," Hexa said. "That's good, since we still have at least two hours more until lunch."
They stopped to catch their breath, and Draco studied her. It wasn't long before she noticed.
"What?" she asked, cheeks pinking.
"Just wondering if it's possible for you to not find the bright side of every situation."
"You mean an off-switch for her optimism?" Abigail shrugged. "There isn't one."
Ravenclaw had by far the most amazing common room out of all of them (in Hexa's opinion, anyways).
