A/N No one's home, and I'm just sitting in the living listening to my Panic! radio on the iPad Pandora, which is plugged into a speaker, and it's turned all the way up, and I'm on the laptop, which is plugged in and charging, and it's like my life is complete as I'm typing this up for all you guys!
Oh my gosh Semi-Automatic (TOP) just came on after Nicotine (P!ATD), which came on after Pheonix (FOB), which came on after Dead! and Teenagers (both MCR) and my life is actually totally and completely complete!!!
It took Harry a while to realize at breakfast as the all sat chatting that when Hexa announced that the mail was coming, there wasn't going to be a package from his secret admirer today.
Because yesterday was the last day.
And his admirer was sitting right next to him on the bench, clutching his hand almost like a lifeline. And he felt like he was in a dream. Or in heaven. Whichever was more perfect.
After the perfect breakfast, he took a walk hand-in-hand with the perfect guy, and his perfect friends, and his perfect-practically-sister said something he wasn't expecting.
"Um, guys, could we go to the woods?" Hexa asked.
Harry and Draco looked at each other, obviously surprised, then back at Hexa.
"Sure," Draco said. "We just kind of assumed you wouldn't want to."
The six of them walked into the woods.
But this time, Cade found them instead of them having to find Cade.
He galloped up to them. "Hexa," he said, which Hexa immediately took as a bad sign. He always, always, called her "Feather." He'd maybe only referred to her as "Hexa" the first time they met and she told him her name.
"Hexa, I'm so sorry, I was just overwhelmed, and the note was just so meaningful and great, and it made me feel like you liked me, you know, romantically, and I just acted without thinking---"
"Cade!" Hexa interupted. "Clumsy, calm down. It's fine. . . It was just overwhelming, I couldn't handle it. It was my first kiss. . ."
And you ruined it, her mind wanted her to say, but she couldn't hurt Clumsy like that.
"I just wanted to say," she continued, individually making brief eye-contact with each of them before she kept talking, "that I realized in the past few days that, well, Cade, Zack and Abigail all like me, and I'm guessing they probably all want to date me, so. . . I guess what I'm trying to say is that I've decided who I, um, will be in a relationship with. Uhm, Zack. . . Well we haven't really been friends that long, and I'm still kind of getting to know you, and I love being your friend, but I can't deal with that right now, I don't think. Cade. . . You're the exact opposite. You were my very first friend here at Hogwarts, and we know each other so well, but. . . I have to be honest, I've never thought of you romantically. You've always been my best friend, no more, and no less. I went around and asked everybody standing here what they think I should do, except Cade, because I never got a chance to, and the only answer that really made sense to me was Abigail's. All the rest of you said that either Zack or Cade was really sweet, and they liked me, and they wouldn't hurt me intentionally, but none of those answers seemed . . . real to me, I guess. Then I asked Abigail who she thought between Cade and Zack, and she didn't look at it like that; she told me neither of them, because she knew that I didn't really like them the way they liked me, and my own opinion on the matter is what clicked---I can't date either of you because I don't really want to, deep down, and even though you'll be good to me, I'd be a bad. . . I'd be a shitty girlfriend to either of you.
"So, Abigail. . . What I'm trying to say is that, you're the one that I like. I really, really like you---"
Abigail walked up to her and poked her cheek jokingly, but her eyes were very clearly misted. "Save it, Hex. Just . . . be my girlfriend, okay?"
Hexa nodded, just a little, and Abigail leaped forward and hugged her tightly. It took a second for her to register what was happening, but when she did, she reciprocated the hug and whispered the faintest, "Okay. . ."
Cade and Zack understood. Hexa was relieved. They said Abigail was an amazing person, and it made sense.
The only thing that was a question to every single one of them was her sexuality.
"I'm pan," she said simply, not offering much elaboration. But they waited for it, so finally she gave it to them. "I mean I never really had a crush on anyone before; I wasn't social enough. But then I realized that I focus more on personality the more I hung out with you guys, and what people say and do, rather than how they look, or how popular they are or whatever. I never really thought about it much, but whenever I did I think way down I kind of knew I wasn't as straight as an uncooked spaghetti noodle."
They all laughed at the comparison, and sat with Cade until lunch, when they got up and left for the castle.
"So," Deven said once they all had started eating. "Speaking of sexualities. . . I'm pretty sure I'm gay. I mean my ex girlfriend was a bit of an eye-opener."
"Wow. . . Is anyone here straight?" Harry asked. He looked at Zack, but he hadn't said anything in response to the question. "Wait, what about Abigail?" he asked suddenly.
"I'm lesbian, actually. Never had a crush on anyone until Hexa. I mean, the other girls in our dorm love to talk about all the cute boys and we try to get them to ask us out, but, I honestly never really wanted to date any of them, regardless of how hot or adorable they were. So, Zack. Not straight?"
"Probably bi. . . I'm not really sure yet. I might be straight. I don't know," he said, jittering---his leg was bouncing and his fingers fidgeted with one another and he hadn't touched his food much yet.
"Cool," Abigail said breezily.
The day went by in a blur, mostly consisting of playing with Arabel and Aura (or Aurora, like those Nothern Lights that Hexa had always wanted to see), the name that Hexa decided to give her kitten, in the Room of Requirement.
The kittens seemed to respect Silver, as in the unicorn, and Hexa was almost able to communicate with them, which she both found cool and alarming. At least, they seemed to understand her, but it wasn't quite mutual. Maybe it was a unicorn thing for other animals to know what it wanted, and since they were kind, rare, peaceful, and friendly beings, it was almost like they served unicorns whenever the unicorn needed a favor or something.
After that encounter, the kittens seemed to know exactly what Hexa wanted, and suddenly knew what their names were and would respond to them. They followed their owners around everywhere and never strayed. It was like they suddenly understood every command Draco and Hexa gave them. That would definitely make potty training a whole lot easier. And the not-wripping-up-the-dorm-rooms thing easier.
Soon, it was dinner.
And even sooner, they were all in their own beds drifting off to sleep. . .
A/N Hey, guys, I know it's short, but I really wanted to clear up the happenings between Hexa and literally everyone else, and I thought that you guys would like the fluff. A lot of Hexigail shippers out there, I haven't seen any Hexade or Zacxa anywhere. And just so you guys know, that was my intent with their characters from the very beginning, it wasn't actually something that developed because of the comments. Just wanted to let you guys know my brilliance in this was original. I am still planning to write maybe two more chapters on this, so don't worry you guys, this is NOT the last chapter!
