Hexa, Abigail, Shay, and Chloe were all in the same compartment on their way back to Hogwarts, and while the other three girls were chatting, Hexa stared out the window for a while, tuning out their conversation as she stroked Aura absently.

Finally, she lifted her hand off of her kittens back and rummaged around in the bag that was squished between her and the wall. She dug around in all of her writing materials until she finally found her unbreakable quill that was enchanted to never need ink, and her slightly worn journal that she'd worked as hard as she could to keep it in the best shape.

Hey guys, she wrote, staring at the page avidly until, five minutes later, she got a response. She smiled and brushed her fingers lightly over the words scrawled in Draco's neat, small, and tidy handwriting.

Hey, Silver. I'm guessing you're on the train?

Hexa smiled some more as she wrote back a simple Yep.

"Hexa," Chloe said, making her jump and clutch the notebook protectively to her chest. "What're you writing now?"

Hexa had decided not to tell Chloe or Shay about the real qualities of the journal; only Abigail knew.

"Oh, um. . . Just something, I'm not really sure what it'll turn into yet."

"Cool. You should read it to us when you're done," she suggested.

"Okay, I might." Hexa sent her a small smile.

Hexa and Shay were still just friends through Abigail, and they talked sometimes, but Chloe and Hexa had actually become pretty close. Chloe was really creative, and Hexa's favorite way to brainstorm was by reading her the parts she was stuck at, and talking out all of the plot holes.

She looked back at the journal.

How's the ride so far? Draco had written back.

Boring. And I have to come up with some beginning to a story that has no real direction yet.

Huh? Harry asked, popping on.

Never mind. There's just nothing to do.

Make out with Abigail, he suggested.

Harry! Draco scolds.

What?

They're fourteen!

Pronghorn, Abigail and I haven't even kissed on the lips yet.

You guys kiss on the cheek.

That's far from the same thing, love.

Hexa sighed quietly aloud and *sigh* appeared on the page without her having to write it, and she wrote, I should probably go now, I'll write to you guys tonight.

Alright, bye, Sis.

We miss you, just so you do.

Yeah; you guys tell me every time we talk. Bye, guys.

Hexa sighed inaudibly again as she closed the journal, and traced her fingers over the cover. It was still the same picture as it had been when she first got it---a stag, a buck, and a unicorn with silver braids in her mane and tail. The only difference was that it moved now, like the pictures in The Daily Prophet.

She felt her eyes well with tears, and as she bent over her bag to dig out some parchment and something hard to write on, she quickly wiped away a stray tear, before blinking the rest of them away as well, before anyone could notice.

Now. . , she thought, pushing away all of her other thoughts and starting her writing gears in her head. For a story. . .

She only wrote about three pages before falling asleep on Abigail's shoulder, Aura resting at her feet loyally.

Abigail shook her awake so she had enough time to get her robes on before they reached the castle.

Once they were seated at the Hufflepuff table in the Great Hall, Hexa noticed Zack and deven seated next to each other two tables away. They caught her eye, grinned, and held up their interlocked fingers.

Hexa covered her mouth as she gasped quietly, then, grinning back, mimed clapping for them so they knew she was happy for them.

Their grins became happy, lopsided smiles before Deven leaned down and kissed Zack on the lips.

Hexa turned to Abigail and said, "Abby, guess what? Zack and Deven---They're dating now!"

"Really?" Abigail asked, and her girlfriend nodded. "That's wonderful!"

They chatted quietly through the sorting ceremony, clapping when needed.

Afterwards, Headmistress McGonnagall came forward to the podium and said, "Before we begin the feast, I'd like to introduce our new professors that will be joining us this year. Now, if they could just arrive right around now, that would be lovely---"

Just then, the doors opened and two guys maybe nineteen years old strode in, hand-in-hand and smirking amusedly at all of the shocked faces around the Hall.

"We greatly apologize for our time inconvenience, Headmistress," Draco said, not taking his eyes off of Hexa, "but we were trying to surprise our little sister."

Hexa didn't miss a beat, and before she knew that she was running, she collided with the two, almost knocking them over with her momentum, only subconsciously aware that she'd yelled out, "Prince! Pronghorn!" as she'd ran towards them. She hadn't realized tears were streaming down her face as she hugged them util Harry kneeled down and gently brushed them away with slightly calloused, warm fingers that she'd missed nonchalantly sliding into her own whenever they'd walked side-by-side, and the cool, soft arm that was wrapped around her protectively that she'd missed naturally sliding around her waist whenever they'd sat next to one another.

"I missed you guys. . ," she whispered, and they both chuckled lightly, causing her to giggle-sob in response.

"I was hoping that's what the hug and tears were for," he said. "Because if you didn't, it wouldn't be even, would it?" He kissed the top of her head.

The headmistress cleared her throat and Draco whispered, "Run in the woods tomorrow morning? Five o'clock?" in her ear, and Hexa nodded.

"As touching as this is," McGonnagall said, "I must ask you three to please take your seats, as I'm sure everyone here is hungry and you're prolonging the feast.

Hexa quickly made sure her face was clear of tears before turning around to face . . . the entire Great Hall full of students. Her throat closed up, and she barely managed a quick, "Yes, of course. Sorry, Headmistress," before rushing back to her seat.

Harry and Draco took their seats next to each other at the teachers' table and McGonnagall continued talking. "Professor Harry Potter"---murmers were heard throughout the crowd, both excited and weary ones---"will be taking over as Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, and Professor Draco Malfoy will be in the role of potions master. As always, our caretaker Filch reminds me once again to tell all of you students that the Forbiddan Forest is strictly off limits to all students"---Hexa, Harry, and Draco all exchanged a happy, inside-joke-like grin---"and having said that, I hope you all have a wonderful year here at Hogwarts, and enjoy the feast."

Hexa had probably never been happier in her entire life.
