Draco was walking hand-in-hand with Robin, whom was on one side of him with Harry on the other, and on the other side of Harry, John was pushing his trolly with Harry's guidence towards platforms nine and ten.
"Dads," John said, "what Hogwarts house do you want me to be in?"
Harry and Draco exchanged looks, knowing that this question was coming. The two fathers both looked straight at their son and spoke in serious tones.
"John, we don't care what house you're in," Harry promised. Draco resisted the urge to face-palm at Harry's awful wording.
"Why not?" John asked, obviously confused and maybe just a bit hurt.
"Because whichever house you're in automatically becomes the new best Hogwarts House," Draco said before Harry could say something stupid.
"What about when I go to Hogwarts?" Robin asked. "What about my house?"
"Then you'll both be in the best house or houses," Harry said and kissed his daughter's forehead.
"We just know that even if neither of you are put in Slytherin or Gryffindor, the other houses have just as good characteristics; they're just different. You know Aunt Hexa and Aunt Abigail were in Hufflepuff, and Zack and Deven were in Ravenclaw."
"Hexa was actually going to be in Ravenclaw instead of Hufflepuff," Harry added.
"Really?" Robin asked; her Aunt Hexa had become her idol over the years.
"Yes, and you can ask her all about it when we see her for dinner tomorrow night, alright?" Draco promised.
"And here's the coolest part," Harry said, leaning closer to John and whispering, "The Hat takes requests into account. If he thinks you're more of a Slytherin than a Ravenclaw, but you really want to be a Ravenclaw, then it'll take that into consideration and might put you in Ravenclaw. I was almost sorted into Slytherin instead of Gryffindor. I'll tell you sometime when the train isn't going to leave in fifteen minutes, alright?"
John hugged them both. "Thanks, Dads."
"You're quite welcome, kiddo," Harry said. "Now let's go catch that train!"
Harry and Draco showed him how to run straight in between the platforms nine and ten, and when they all got through, they said one last goodbye, ending with a kiss on Robin's head from her older brother, before John was waving out of a window as the train began to roll forward.
(A/N Assume that Ron and Hermione's oldest kid doesn't start for Hogwarts until next year.)
John was sitting in an empty compartment, and surprised he'd found one, too. He felt it was too quiet, so he started to sing under his breath as he stared out the window, and was so lost in his thoughts that he hadn't heard the compartment door slide open.
The first year girl stood in the isle for a good half minute before shaking her head and blinking herself out of her daze when someone brushed past her, looking for a compartment of their own.
She cleared her throat and said awkwardly, "Hey, uh, excuse me? Could I sit here. . ?"
John jumped when he heard her and turned to look at her for a stunned moment before saying, "Um, yeah, sure. I don't really know anyone, so I wasn't saving the seat. . ." He was well aware that he was being distracted by her blonde, waist-long curls and eyes so dark brown he thought they were black at first glance. Her pretty image was messed up by the MCR Black Parade shirt that was too long, covering up half of her white skirt, mascara, and her straightened side bangs completely covering up one of her eyes.
