Strength In Love(Vikings-Ivar the Boneless:Part 2){Modern Day}

*Aslaug's pov*

I never thought this would be where we were two of my sons shot...we found out pretty quickly that Sigurd didn't make it through surgery but we still haven't heard about Ivar...Kari refused to leave so I had Torvi bring her some clean clothes and the nurses let her use the showers in their locker room...I watched as Kari finally slept her head on Torvi's lap while her feet were on Alva's covered up with Ragnar's jacket...I stood up walking over to where Bjorn and Ragnar stood talking "I wish they'd tell us something I hate this...I want to be able to tell Kari something."

Ragnar nodded "I tried to talk her into going home she wasn't having it she won't leave."

Bjorn sighed "Torvi said she broke down in the shower."

I sighed deeply "She really loves him...if he doesn't make it I don't know how she'll be."

He nodded "He will.."

A doctor finally walked out "Are you the family of Ivar Lothbrok?"

I nodded "Yes....Torvi wake Kari.."

Torvi nodded gently shaking Kari awake

I sighed as Kari slowly stood up walking over "Sorry please continue."

He nodded "He pulled through he lost a lot of blood but there was some damage to the spine for now he doesn't have use of his legs and I can't be certain how long it will last it all depends on physical therapy and his own body.."

Kari spoke softly "So it may be temporary?"

He nodded "Yes..right now healing is the most important part your other son shoving him saved his life Mrs Lothbrok."

I took a shakey breath "Can we see him?"

He nodded "I'll send a nurse to come get you as soon as he wakes."

Kari looked up at me the fear written in her eyes "How do we tell him this."

I gently took her face in my hands "We'll figure it out sweetheart right now let's just be grateful we still have him."

She nodded "They won't let me back there I'm just the girlfriend."

I shook my head "The hell they won't the first thing he needs to see is the face of the woman he loves."

Kari nodded "Okay.."

I nodded...when the nurse came and got us I let Kari walk in first standing back

She spoke softly "Baby?"

Ivar smiled weakly "My dove...are you okay?"

Kari gently brushed his hair out of his face "I'm fine...you scared the hell out of us.."

He nodded "Doc said I'm in bad shape.."

I nodded as her gaze met mine "You lost a lot of blood my son."

Ivar nodded "They said something about physical therapy once my wounds heal....since when do gunshot wounds need physical therapy?"

Ragnar nodded slightly "There was some damage to your spinal cord..they believe it may be temporary so they want to do physical therapy."

He went quiet "So I'm paralysed?"

He nodded "Yes..temporary paralysis....they're hopefully with therapy and time you may walk on your own."

I frowned "Ivar.."

Ivar took a deep breath "Get out...get out all of you.."

I sighed "Ivar honey.."

He growled "I said get the fuck out now!"

Kari jumped back "Ivar."

Ivar shook his head "Leave me be."

I watched the heartbroken look on her face as the nurses walked in and we walked out "Kari.."

Kari shook her head and walked away

Alva sighed "I got her."

I nodded...my poor baby

*Kari's pov*

I stood outside hugging my hoodie around my body as the tears fell freely..I felt his anger I understood but I was scared to death..I jumped as the door opened and out walked Alva, Hvitserk, and Ubbe "I'm okay."

Alva shook her head "Honey no you're not but that's okay we've had a shitty 12 hours you're whole life has just been turned upside down cry be angry it's allowed."

I took a shakey breath "Its not fair...why us...you know he told me he wanted to have a baby..we started trying."

She frowned "Oh honey it could still happen."

I sighed "I don't know."

Hvitserk nodded "You can't give up on him he's an asshole we know this and this is a big pill to swallow...make this his goal."

Ubbe nodded "And he has you most of all.."

I nodded "Yeah."

A nurse poked her head out the door "Are you Kari?"

I nodded "Yes."

She nodded "Mr Ivar is asking for you."

I nodded "I'm coming."

The nurse nodded and went back inside

I sighed deeply "You guys go get some decent food alright take showers...ill be okay."

Alva nodded "We'll bring you food and clothes okay."

I nodded "Thanks for keeping me sane guys."

Ubbe nodded "You mean the world to us Kari..and you are everything to Ivar..you're family."

I smiled softly after saying by I went back to Ivar's room to see him sitting half way up in bed "You asked for me."

Ivar sighed "I'm sorry.."

I nodded walking over to sit beside his bed "You're angry everything has changed..I'm not mad.."

He nodded "You weren't crying when I saw you now you are..I did that."

I shook my head "The only time I've stopped crying since it happen was when your mother made me sleep...I was scared to death that I was going to lose you too."

Ivar sighed "Dad said Sigurd didn't make it."

I nodded letting my fingers lace with his "They couldn't stop the bleeding a bullet nicked an artery."

He nodded "Did he push me out of the way?"

I sighed deeply "That's what they're thinking from where you got shot it's like he tried to save you."

Ivar nodded "Why did you stay?"

I looked at him "Because you're the love of my life my everything..you'd be right here if it was me in this bed...I'm not going anywhere Ivar I am going to help you every step of the way even if I piss you off."

He nodded "Lay with me please...I need to feel you beside me."

I slipped my shoes off and carefully got on the bed beside him "We're going to get through this Ivar.."

Ivar nodded slightly "I never wanted this to touch you."

I nodded "I'm okay Ivar..I will be okay."

He nodded "Promise me you'll stay."

I pressed a light kiss to his jaw "I'm not going anywhere."

Ivar nodded "I need you."

I nodded "You have me...now rest Ivar."

He sighed "Stay.."

I nodded "I will."

Ivar nodded slowly drifting off...

I watched him sleep...this was going to be a long hard road but we would face it together
