Chapter 26: Something Bane

Chapter 26
Something Bane

The next few days, there was thick tension between the shadowhunters and the lone mundane in the institute.

Kiara has just finished her dinner when Alec entered the room. She looked at the boy with distaste and walked out. Not having much else to do, she changed and got into her bed.

'I don't want them to be a part of this world.' Her mothers voice came.

'You can't keep doing this forever, Jocelyn.' Came another funnily familiar male voice.

'What's he going to do to us, mom?' Kiara asked.

'I don't want to do this.' Clary said.

Kiara heard herself scream.

Just then, she was shaken awake. "What was that?" She gasped.

"You had a nightmare." Alec said. "It's alright. It wasn't real."

"Except It was." Kiara whispered.

"Excuse me? What was that?" Alec asked.

"It wasn't a dream, Alec. It was a memory." She whispered, her voice hoarse.

"What did you see?" He asked sharply but quietly.

"My brain..my head throbbed. Like my brain was being ripped out." She replied softly.

"The extraction of memories." Alec stated.

"Probably. Yes. I think that's what it was. I don't know why...things were so familiar." She said.

"Probably because they have happened. To you." Alec replied.

"I don't know. Something Bane. Bane Something. Whatever it was...it had something to do with a Bane." Kiara said. "I know it. I just do."

"A Bane?" Alec asked confused. "What do you mean?"

"That's the worst part. I don't know. Something Bane. Bane Something. I can't remember. But I know it...I know that I'm aware what it is. I just can't put my finger on it." Kiara said in a frustrated tone.

"Sleep on it." Alec suggested rubbing circles in the back of her hand. "You might remember something." He said.

Personally, Kiara highly doubted this. But owing to how tired she was, said nothing and snuggled into the duvet without argument.

However, Kiara was proved wrong. While, sleeping she kept seeing flashes of things over and over again. All until the last flash she saw before waking up, gasping. The said last flash being a face. A face that put everything in its place and completed the little puzzle.

"Magnus Bane!" Kiara exclaimed in realisation before looking at the time. It was half past six in the morning and Kiara knew she would find Alec in the training room.

"Alec! Alec Alec Alec!" Kiara said, bursting in.

"Is there something I should know about." Isabelle asked suggestively looking between Alec and Kiara while Jace turned and raised an eyebrow.

"Alec you're a genius." Kiara said, ignoring the other two. "You were right!"

"A stroking is the last thing his ego needsss!" Izzy sung.

"I told you it was something Bane. It's Magnus Bane. He took our memories. Magnus Bane." Kiara said.

An incredibly short update. But I updated yesterday and will update more and soon. And as for the arguments in the previous parts. You will see the tension in the following 'mission.'
