Chapter 43

~Nash's POV~

It's been two months now. Casey's room is filled with flowers and balloons. I came every single day and watched her. I made sure that if she woke up, I would be the first person that she would see.

The doctor came in just now. He had a file and clipboard in his hand.

"Hello Nash. How are you today?" We've basically gotten to know each other by now, especially since I have come every day for two months.

"I'm fine, how are you?" He sat down in a chair across from me.

"Well, actually I have some news."

"What kind of news?"

"Well, by the looks of it, we had found out that Casey was pregnant. I mean, she was pregnant. Because of the state she was in, she lost the baby. We would of had to get rid of it anyway. It would have made her even more sick and in a worse condition than she already was."

I nodded my head as tears fell slowly out of my eyes.

"I know it's sad to lose your kid, but-"

"It was never my kid to begin with." I mumbled under my breath.

"What?" The doctor said.

"I said that the baby isn't mine...she was raped by a man named Caleb. About two months ago, I - I saved her from him. She almost died. And I didn't even realize that he actually raped her."

"It's okay. The baby passed on, so now there is nothing to worry about besides Casey's recovery." The doctor smiled a little, trying to give me some hope.

I just looked away, and looked at Casey. All of her bruises had gone and her stitches were better. She no longer had any bandages and she was cleaner. I leaned in toward her a gave her a kiss.

But this kiss was different. It felt weird and full of warmth. It was full of life. I sat back for a little and held her hand, which was also warm. This better be a good sign.

I waited there for a while just looking at her. The beeper going at a steady beat. It was no longer entertaining, but torturous in that small jail-like hospital room.

I looked at Casey and leaned in close again.

"Please wake up soon. I miss you." I whispered. Then I got up, kissed her on the forehead, and walked outside to get a drink.

As I walked down the hall, I saw my brother Hayes. I haven't seen him in a while.

"POO BEAR!" I yelled down the hall. He turned and smiled. Then he ran over to me and gave me a big hug. Puberty has certainly done him well.

"Hey Nash." And his voice was definitely deeper. "How's Casey?"

"She's in a coma, but I think she'll be up soon." I smiled for the first time of what felt like forever.

"Can we talk?" I nodded my head and followed Hayes into the cafeteria. He sat down and I bought two waters for us.

"Um, I have to ask you something. Well, I need advice about...girls." I laughed and Hayes punched me in the arm.

"Dude, I'm serious. She's special. I've never liked someone this much. Is it suppose to hurt? Like I always miss her and want to spend every day with her." He smiled and I saw that he really loved her. He was the same age I was when I met Casey.

"Well, I was your age when I met Casey. But, this must mean something to you because you have never wanted an actual relationship before. When I met Casey, though, we weren't immediatly in love. I mean, we had our ups and downs, but after magcon ended and I got back home, we became closer."

"You must love her too." Hayes said.

"Yeah, I really do. I - I have to ask you an important question. BUT YOU CANT TELL A SOUL!"

"Including mom and dad?"

"Especially them!" Hayes giggled and I smiled.

"So whats up?"

"I'm going to ask Casey to marry me."

Hayes's jaw dropped and I could tell he was surprised.

"Oh my god! Really?" Hayes smiled and look like a little kid.

"So you don't mind?"

"NOT AT ALL! I mean, Casey is smokin', especially for your shitty looks. But, you guys really love each other, so I think that this would be good for you guys."

Thank god I have his approval. This makes everything so much easier.
