Jordan's point of view:
JD and I have been friends since before we were even born due to the fact that our parents grew up together. JD has always been right next door because our parents are that close! We were always running all over the place but our parents got tired of us always running back and forth across each other's front yards just to get to each other so they decided to put a door in our fence that led straight from our backyard to theirs.
The backyard is where JD, my older brother Brandon, and I spent our time as kids. We were always running around back there whether it was in one backyard or the other. We always had so much fun together and as we grew up we became inseperable. Our parents joked about us being like the three musketeers because we were always together and didn't do anything without each other. We always had fun even though my parents found it weird that I was the only girl in the group and that I actually enjoyed playing with the boys; which was also funny because they are both a year older than me.
JD's parents were like my second family. When I wasn't home I was there. They always welcomed me until they realized when we started getting older that we might start to like each other a little more than friends. JD's parents made this realization when they saw JD and I become closer and closer when we were about 7 and 8. It was one week when Brandon had came down with the flu and my parents didn't want me at home because they feared that I would catch it so they sent me over to the Davids' house where I stayed for the week.
Over that one week we realized that we didn't need Brandon there in order to have together. During that one week we became so close that without really realizing it the week was over and it was time for me to head home. JD begged his parents to let me stay a little longer but they didn't really become suspicious until they realized that we had completely stopped hanging out with Brandon it was just the two of us laying in the floor watching movies and laughing at the corny jokes that JD would tell.
His parents weren't too happy at how close we had become so they said that we couldn't hang out for at least 2 weeks. Those weeks were probably some of the worst weeks of my entire life. His parents wouldn't let me even talk to JD so we found a new way since we were right next door and both our rooms were right across from each other and on the third floor. We would open our windows and yell quietly to each other across the small gap between our windows. Brandon knew that he would never fully have his best friend back after that.
JD and I only got closer over the years and we always went everywhere together. Until I turned 9 and my dad died in a horrible car accident on the job. He worked as a lawyer and was meeting up with one of his clients at the cafe' down the street from the Golden Gate Bridge. We lived in San Fransisco in one of those houses like in full house. The Davids' place was bigger and nicer than ours though.
"He was an amazing guy and an even more amazing husband and father." My mother said in between sobs. He were sitting in a funeral home at my father's service. "He was so young and handsome and was a terrific son and brother." My uncle Marty cried worse than when the news anchor announced the crash and showed a picture of my father's car completely totaled.
My mom and family were never the same after that night. Mom was always getting drunk or high every night to try and get rid of all the tragic events. She was constantly getting told that she was a horrible mother by my grandma and grandpa. Grandma nearly took us in until the night that mom brought home some strange man and grandpa came over and kicked his ass and yelled at her. She must have learned her lesson or have been afraid of it happening again because she automatically stopped the drinking and the smoking and the drugs.
She still isn't perfect but she's getting closer to her old self. When she would get in one of her moods though I would call JD's parents and ask them to come over and get me. We would all go out and watch a movie and stay up late and play games and when we finally fell asleep and woke up in the morning it all just felt like a bad dream. JD would comfort me like no other person could. He is my best friend in the whole entire world.
I think JD liked the idea of comforting me because from then on whenever I was feeling down I would walk through the gate knock on his back door wait for someone to answer and go in. JD and I had become so close that his parents started letting me just stay the weekends with them. It wasn't just like a normal sleepover or anything though when I went over there on the weekends we had a blast and it didn't matter if I went over there every weekend because every single time we did something different.
His parents knew how close we had become and although I am pretty sure that they weren't too fond of their little boy hanging out with a little girl instead of his basketball friends but they just got over that because they were happy he at least had a friend. With how bad he acted it was rare that any of the girls at school would talk to him or play with him during recess because he would call them names and pull their hair just typical boy jokes. The boys he hung out with did the same things and they were worse than JD was. They would actually push the girls down on the playground and tell them things that would seriously break someone. JD never let the boys touch me or talk to me though because he told them that if they ever even thought about doing that stuff to me that he would show them what his knuckles looked like up close. JD was so overprotective of me and still is but only like ten times worse.
