As far as kingdoms go, Traevia was one of the more prosperous ones. With its ever expanding market, its growth in agriculture, and its hard push on education. The people of Traevia were kind, accepting people. Those that would always be willing to help out a neighbor. These were the things that my father, the King of Traevia, always told me. Even at a young age my father would never talk down to me. He made sure treat me with the same upmost respect of an adult so that when I grew up I would become a respectable one myself. My father was my mentor, my role model, and my rock. He was everything I wanted to be. A fearless leader with a kind heart.

But, alas, only the good die young. The whole kingdom mourned my father's death. He was a man loved by all. And for five years my mother, Queen Mary, has run the kingdom, mostly on her own, with little help from nearby kingdoms. Finally one of her children has come of age to rule the kingdom. My father may have taught me everything he knew about being a leader but he could never change the fact that I wasn't the first born. My older sister Elizabeth was going to take over Traevia, and there was nothing I could change about that.

The wind blew through my hair as I read calmly in the garden. I didn't look up from my book when the soft patter of footsteps made their way towards me. "They're here!" James' voice echoed between the trees. I knew immediately who he was talking about. Elizabeth's suitor. I had no interest in meeting the man who will single-handedly ruin my chance at ruling the kingdom I loved, or his family.

"Tell mother that I will greet them later," I say, shifting in a more comfortable position on the stone bench. "Mother thought you would tell us that," Leo says, causing me to look up. I hadn't even notice he was here. Always the silent one was he. "Mother also told us that she will give away Jack if you don't come right this moment," Leo continues. Jack was my beloved horse that my father had given to me when I was little. Mother was always threatening to sell him, knowing that that would get me to do any of her biddings. My gaze went on both my younger brothers. "Fine," I comply with a sigh. Standing up I clutched my book, following the two young boys back to the castle.

The inside of the castle was bustling with workers, all frantic about our new guests. Even Delia was helping out in the kitchen, joining me in the rush to the main foyer with ingredients smeared across her face. We share a laugh as I use my handkerchief to wipe her face clean. "I heard he has younger brothers," she beams while voicing all the gossip she's heard. Eloise was quick to join us, wearing her best dress, no doubt, to impress our guests. Though she had probably scrubbed her arms thoroughly, Eloise still had faint paint stains on them. Hopefully mother wouldn't notice.

"Yes," Eloise agreed with Delia's gossip. Both were younger than me, Delia by a couple years and Eloise by a few. "Perhaps they might fancy us," Eloise says with hope. "They're not here for us," I correct her, "They're here for Elizabeth's courtship." My two sisters stare at me with soft eyes, knowing that I was going through a lot, emotionally.

The main foyer was decorated nicely, but the strangers standing in the center really captured my attention. Six strangers. Respect your elders, be polite and only speak when spoken to. Rules that I had to live by, but I considered them more like guidelines. I approached the group cautiously, patting down the skirt of my gown. There was an older man and woman standing with Mother along with four boys, probably their children. "King Dominic, Queen Nicola, I would like to introduce my daughters," Mother says when we come to a stop, "Eloise, the youngest out of the girls, Delia, third eldest, and Y/N, second eldest." Each of us did a little curtsy when our names are called. "Elizabeth," Mother turns to see if she could spot her arriving, "must still be getting ready, and the boys are around here somewhere." She could barely hide the annoyance in her voice as she said this. Punctuality, she deemed, was one of the most important aspects of being a part of the royal family.
