PROMPT: Hanging out in Peter's room & fluff
WORDS: 985

"No. Seriously he dropped it and the LEGOs went everywhere!" Peter tried to contain his arising fit of laughter but the grin spreading across his face lit up his features.
I chuckled at not only his words but the funny state he was in.
Hanging upside down on the ceiling. His curly hair being pulled down towards the ground. His eyes scrunched shut from trying to contain his laughter. And finally his flushed cheeks from the facial pressure of hanging.
It was a beautiful sight.
"And May?" I choke out through my consistent giggles. "Oh, she heard it. And she rushed right in when I ditched the suit!" My mouth fell open, my hand going to cover it.
"So she came in with you in your boxers and Ned being in there with you?" I ask incredulously. Peter nodded his head. An odd thing to see when the person is upside down. "God, I can't even imagine what she must have been thinking."
"I can," Pete says. I give him a look. "What? You know that wasn't what happened." His arms crossed. "I don't know, do I?" I playfully question with a smirk. He scoffs. "Yeah, okay," he says in a manner of disbelief.
I smiled while looking at him. My arm raises, waiting for him to grab it. He grasps my forearm and helps me up. Once standing, I walk towards his desk. When I pull my arm away, our fingers brushed against one another's. It left a chill to go down my spine.
"What are you doing?" Peter asks as I sifted through the stuff on his desk top. My eyes glance up to him. His head was turned and he had an amused expression on his face. "Isn't it obvious? I'm looking at all the junk you have," my tone playful.
I look back at his desk opening a drawer.
From the corner of my eye I can see Peter drop down from the ceiling and sit on his bed.
My hands land on a pair of glasses hidden underneath a bunch of papers. "Did you used to wear glasses?" I ask him a small smile playing on my lips.
"Oh, um, yeah. Before the whole spider bite thing."
"Ah..." I say in understanding. I open the glasses and put them on my face. Turning dramatically. "How do I look?" I ask, posing.
"Hideous," he says quickly as a joke. I pretend hurt, placing a hand on my chest. My eyes narrow at him. "You look fine," he tries again.
"'Fine'? That's it?" I figuratively push him around. "You look beautiful. Happy now?" He says in fake exasperation. "Very," I say smiling, walking over to him.
I take the glasses off myself. My fingers fiddled with the wiring.
"Can I?" I ask, moving my hands towards his face. He lets out a breath. "Sure," he answers.
I gently let the glasses sit on the bridge of his nose. Carefully making sure that the wiring goes over his ears. I pulled my hands back slowly to admire his old look.
The lens accentuated his eyes even more, making the brown in his eyes to become more visible and warmer in color. He gives me a pulled smile.
Pete's fingers tapped on his knee. Almost as if it was out of nerves.
One of my hands rests on the wooden board of the top bunk of his bed as I moved my head underneath to get closer to him. I thought I saw him gulp but it may have been just my imagination.
"I wish I had know you, you know? Before all this superhero stuff," I admit. He chuckles lightly.
"Please. You wouldn't have wanted to know me back then. I was just normal and boring," he dismisses the idea.
"I think it's your eyes that attracts me the most," I say, thinking out loud.
"My— My eyes?" He stutters.
"They are just so big and warm and welcoming. And when I look into them... everything feels like it's going to be okay," Pete's eyes soften. "Like I'm always going to be safe. It doesn't matter if you're being Spider-Man or being Peter Parker. It's just you being you," Peter's eyes widen as I take the glasses off him and toss them to the side.
I keep leaning closer.
"I feel safe with you, Peter," I confess.
He begins to lean forward as well. His hand gently caressing my shoulder, lightly pulling me closer to him. It felt like my heart was beating in my ears.
Our faces were a few inches apart when we heard the door begin to open.
I panic, my head lifting up coming close to hitting the bottom of the top bunk. But Peter using his amplified senses and quick reflexes, cradled my head pulling it towards his chest and stands up.
It happened so fast that I didn't even realize that he was holding me in his arms.
May peaked inside.
"I just wanted to check on you guys to see how you were doing and if you guys wanted to something to eat," She says.
"We're good," Peter says. I can feel the vibration of his voice with my ear against his chest.
"Okay," May says, "maybe keep the door open." She pushes it open and walks away.
I turn my head to look slightly up at Peter. Our faces so close. Pete smiles at me, which causes me to smile back. I wrapped my arms around his torso. Placing my head on his shoulder.
His arms tightened around me and his head nuzzled into my hair.
I still don't know if that would've been our first kiss had May not interrupted us. But I do know it was the day that we had let some of our feelings surface.
