While on hero duty Peter would greatly enjoy people watching. Especially when it was a slow day or an hour that not much crime happened. For example; the early afternoon. When it was still daylight but after the lunchtime traffic.
Most people would come and go, disappearing from his mind as quick as they had appeared. But not (Y/N). She stuck in his mind like a catchy tune or jingle that makes you go insane, but in this case, in a good way.
He had known her all through middle school, continuously having an affection towards her. As Peter Parker, (Y/N) wouldn't give him the time of day, never noticing him in the halls or in the lunchroom. Mostly it was because she didn't know him. He never got enough courage to talk to her at school.
But as Spider-Man, it was a different story. Peter always grew a sense of confidence in the suit. He once ran into her during one of his early patrols. She was flustered at meeting the hero and he was just as flustered internally that it was his school crush in front of him. Though he quickly remembered that she couldn't recognize him and regained a sense of heroic clarity.
Then at another time, during a night patrol, he found her walking alone through the city. He then fittingly offered to walk her home, for safety reasons of course.
Since then he has been constantly on the look out for her. And (Y/N) wanting to see the hero more would go to the roof of her house knowing that that would be the most likeliest place to run into him. He would make special trips to the more suburban outskirt parts just to see her.
They met up together quite often and it was more comforting for Peter that he didn't have to disguise his voice since she didn't know what Peter Parker sounded like.
It wasn't enough to call them friends but they weren't exactly strangers either.
That brings us to the present moment. It was the weekend and early afternoon. Slow hour. Peter was perched on the roof of a tall building, staring down at (Y/N) waiting at a bus stop. To him, she was the most beautiful girl in the world.
He audibly sighed while watching her do nothing more than being herself. "What's the matter Peter?" Karen asked through his mask, "does this have to do with (Y/N)?"
Peter had talked to Karen about (Y/N) a few times now, so in a way, Karen was acquainted with the girl."Yeah, just the usual," Peter answered. He knew the bus routes by now, he could tell that she was heading home. He watched her carefully as a dog ran past and (Y/N) smiled, tossing down what seemed to be a leftover piece of sandwich. The dog picked it up from the sidewalk, looked up at the girl and wagged its tail. Obviously it was excited for the meal.
