Kiku x Reader — Indirect Kiss
It was Sunday, and you had dragged your quiet friend Kiku out shopping for prom dresses. Crowded places weren't his thing, but he had agreed anyway — because he was hopelessly head‑over‑heels for you.
Two hours had passed, and he was slumped in front of the changing room, sighing for the fifteenth time. You had tried on gown after gown, each time asking his opinion, each time pouting when he answered. He found your pout adorable, but his patience was wearing thin.
Then you stepped out in a white gown, shoulders bare, silver lining shimmering under the lights. His breath caught. You looked like a dream.
"...Kiku? Hello? Can you hear me? What do you think?" you asked, tilting your head cutely.
"I... I think it suits you perfectly, ___‑chan," he stammered, cheeks burning.
"You've said that for the last eight gowns," you pouted.
"But it's true," he insisted, blushing harder. "They all look amazing on you. But... this one is my favorite."
Your lips curved into a smile. "Really? Then I'll buy this one."
After paying, you returned to him with the bag in hand. He smiled shyly, and you slipped your fingers into his. He resisted at first, but eventually let you hold his hand. It felt like a date — just the two of you, wandering the mall, his heart racing with every step.
"Kiku, let's try the new matcha sundae at McDo!" you said, eyes sparkling.
"With... what?" he asked, confused.
"The new flavor they're offering," you tugged his arm toward the counter.
He sighed softly, but followed.
You ordered the matcha sundae, then turned to him. "What about you, Kiku?"
"Do they have tea here, ___‑chan?" he asked hopefully.
You giggled. "Sadly, no tea. How about juice? Orange or mango?"
His eyes scanned the menu nervously. "That one," he pointed at the KitKat sundae.
"Perfect," you said, ordering it for him.
You sat together on a bench in the mall garden, enjoying your treats. Kiku watched you, entranced by the way your lips brushed against the spoon, the way you bit into the matcha sticks. His sundae melted untouched.
"Kiku? Hello? You're spacing out again. Eat your sundae before it melts!" you teased.
"Oh... hai," he muttered, finally taking a bite. The taste was unfamiliar, but pleasant. He glanced back at you, only to find you watching him.
"What is it?" you asked, smiling. Then you held out your spoon. "Here, try mine. It's matcha."
He hesitated, but nodded. "Okay."
You fed him a spoonful, and the moment the sweetness hit his tongue, realization hit him harder. His face turned crimson. He covered his cheeks with his hand, flustered beyond words.
"Kiku? Are you okay?" you asked, reaching for his hand.
"I'm fine, ___‑chan. It's just... you used your spoon to feed me, and that means... it was... it was..." His voice trailed off, his blush deepening.
"It was what?" you pouted.
"An... indirect kiss," he whispered, mortified.
You stared at him in disbelief, then burst into a soft laugh. "You're so cute, Kiku."
Before he could respond, you cupped his face gently, forcing him to meet your gaze. "You're so cute, you know that?"
And then, without hesitation, you leaned in and kissed him — soft, sweet, lingering. His blush deepened until his whole face was red, his mind blank, his world turning white.
"KIKUUUUUUU~!" you squealed, laughing as he hid his face in his hands, but his shy smile peeked through.
