Sometimes people don't say anything
And yet they say everything
She walks into a room
Silence
The silence is heavy
Pressing down on her vocal chords
She wants to reach into the air
pull out the unsaid words
And put them back into the mouths of their makers
See if they could say it to her face
The people who stare
Those who judge
The ones who talk without words
Their eyes say every unsaid thing
Every balloon in the distance
The words they let go of as soon as their eye meet
But the words that they said to her back aren't gone after they let go of them
They're still bright dots in the distance
Shining against the clouds
and the bright blue sky
Words said to her back are just as real as words said to her beautiful face
The only difference is
they dont have to see her face
When it crumples
They dont see her tears
Her eyes avoid theirs
They don't have to see the consequences of their harsh tones and terrible words
They're saved from that pain
This is what phones have given us
A screen to hide behind
A place where we can say things and not think about the human that receives the messages or the posts
And all the apologies in the world can't pop that balloon
Because it's already gone too far to ever be reached
The message has already been sent
And there is no turning back
