Luna pulled down the sides of her beanie, completely hiding her ears as she looked into the mirror. Her younger cousin, Noma, immediately jumped into the sight of the mirror, giggling at the sight of herself.
"Why are you wearing a hat?" Luna looked at her, seeing her eyes watching her as she let go of the sides and bent down beside Noma.
"Because I have to, or else my head would get cold," she said, "that and I don't want to wear a wig."
Noma laughed at the word wig, it had always made her giggly and nobody knew why.
"Hey, Noma," Luna said, getting the laughing girl's attention.
"Yes?" She asked, turning her back to the mirror and looking at Luna.
"What would you say if there was a puppy here?" Luna asked, planning on getting her little cousin to help with her plan.
Noma was normally over when Luna wasn't in the hospital, so it would be like they we're sharing the pup.
Noma's eyes widened, her mouth turning into a smile as she squealed. "Are you getting a puppy?"
"If you help me, we might be able to share one, seeing as I'll need somebody to watch him when I'm in the hospital," Noma squealed again before looking serious.
"What do we have to do?" She asked, making Luna laugh. Noma acted a lot how Luna did at a young age.
"I need you to go to my mom and dad and ask them about it, saying how much we deserve the puppy," Luna said, standing as Noma took off, yelling an "okay!"
Luna laughed to herself a moment more before following Noma to the kitchen, where her parents and some of their aunts and uncles, who had stayed over, resided.
"Mom!" Noma said, going straight to her mother. Luna furrowed her eyebrows, wondering what the little girl was doing.
"I want a puppy!" She exclaimed after her mom had given her the attention she wanted.
"Maybe when you're older," her mom said, and Noma puckered her bottom lip out, pouting.
"But Luna gets a puppy!" She exclaimed, acting like she was about to throw a little tantrum.
"Luna's getting a puppy?" Her aunt asked her mother, who looked at her father. "That's so sweet, it's about time she had something to give her company."
Luna almost burst into a fit of laughter as Noma walked back over to her, a smug smile on the little girl's face.
"I am so proud of you right now," Luna said as she guided the girl to the backyard, where a playset for her was placed.
"I was taught by the best," she said, looking at Luna and smiling before running off. Luna laughed.
