Ember smiled, his eyes closing as Dragon snuggled against his chest.
Luna had said the words that put him to rest at night, especially if they were from her. "I love you."
A sigh escaped his lips as he got comfier in bed, allowing sleep to take over him after he yawned a couple of times.
Ember walked the corridors in school, his eyes meeting those of the popular clique, however, they didn't walk towards him or call out some hateful thing.
Why? He didn't know.
Ember stepped into his first period class, sneaking to the back of the class without being noticed too much.
But, even if he tried, everyone had their eyes on him, as if he were a new student. He just ignored it and took notes in class.
In every period, it was the same, eyes on him, his every step, move or twitch. It was getting creepy and Ember was about to question it at lunch, when he was stopped by a group, of girls.
"Hey, Ember," they all said in unison, causing him to raise his eyebrows. They all smiled innocently before speaking in unison again: "follow us."
Ember stood where he was, not wanting to have anything to do with these girls. He'd much rather sit at his table and be alone.
"No," he said, walking to the line and getting his tray of food.
One girl followed him.
"Why no?" She asked, her hands behind her back as she watched him with question. He frowned at her.
"I'm not following you if I have no idea what's going on," he said, walking past her and to his table, but she followed. A small smile etched onto her face.
"I was going to ask you to prom," she said, a forced laugh escaping her mouth. Ember looked at her.
"In that case," he said, frowning once the girl smiled more, "I'm sorry, but no, I already have somebody that I'm asking."
He turned away from her, ignoring the creak of the seat when she sat no.
"And what if they say no?" She asked, a frown on her face, but a hopeful look in her eyes.
Ember looked at her.
"If she says no, I will say yes to you," he told her before turning to his food. "Now, can I eat?" He asked, looking at her before back at his food.
She nodded, getting up and leaving him be.
