(Chapter Eleven)
Summer had come before anybody had even realized. Elara had been satisfied with Ariel stopping the creation of the lines, and they had even had time to learn more at the stables.
Like, how Wonder preferred oranges and melons from the normal carrots and apples that the other horses got.
Ember had gotten help, with the help of Emerald, to keep from making Elara upset about his condition anymore. He didn't want her to be upset because of his own problems. He had to accept that that's how it was, and he'd decided to change if it helped Elara be okay.
Saros and his parents had began to spend more time with Elara and Ember, occasionally with Emerald joining them, and both kids had even gotten to bring their horses to his house, taking an adventure, (with guidance of Matt and Ariel, who had joined them) in the forest behind the house.
Within a month of summer beginning, Ariel’s parents, Ariel, and Elara had went to stay for a week in Tokyo. With force from Emerald, Ember had agreed to allow Elara to go.
Ariel’s parents shared a hotel room, and Elara shared with Ariel, who said that they could stay up being wild.
Elara jumped from her bed to Ariel’s, where she laid, holding her phone in the air as she typed. Elara laid beside her, smiling when Ariel didn't protest about her personal bubble.
“You're going to drop it,” Elara joked, laughing when Ariel acted like she would. Elara read the name on the phone. “Why are you texting Matt?”
Ariel looked at Elara, smiling as she shook her head. “Because he's my friend?” She questioned, watching when Elara looked back at her phone.
“Then why did he send you a kissy face?” Elara asked, smiling when Ariel's eyes widened. “He loves you,” Elara teased, sticking her tongue out when Ariel mumbled a ‘shut up.’
“He doesn't love me,” Ariel said, shaking her head and sitting up, turning off her phone and sitting with her legs criss-cross. Elara shook her head, copying Ariel.
“I say that he does,” she said, laying her head against Ariel.
“I say that he doesn't,” Ariel defended, laughing when Elara laughed sleepily.
Ariel watched as her phone lit up again. She wouldn't reach for it, knowing Elara would see and come up with something to say to it.
However, Elara was already fast asleep, laying back against the pillows. Ariel reached down, grabbing her phone as she slowly got up. She walked to the desk, grabbing her room key before walking out and down the hallway to the stairs.
She had gotten hungry long before then, but she didn't want to drag Elara down for her to be tired and fall asleep on a bench. Ariel walked to the small room that held vending machines, putting money in one before pressing the correct code to get some chips.
Afterwards, she walked back to the elevator, pressing the up arrow and awaiting its arrival. After a moment, it appeared, the door opening to reveal no one, so Ariel stepped in, pressing three, and pulling her phone out as the doors closed.
She took a breath before turning on her phone. She opened up the text messages between Matt and her, the newest one making her groan at how right Elara was.
‘Love you Ari 😘’
