"I won't be able to," Luna said, and Ember could only imagine the disappointed look on her face.
"We've been so busy over the past year that I just completely forgot about tickets," she said, before hitting something; Ember could hear it.
"That sucks," Ember mumbled, walking into his room and shutting the door behind him. Luna sighed, rather dramatically, on her side of the call.
He laughed to himself, causing Luna to yell, "hey!"
"This is a serious matter," she said, but her tone wasn't serious. And soon, both teens were laughing at nothing.
"Within the next year, we need to get together again," Luna said, her voice muffled by something.
Ember stayed silent, looking at his phone. He normally didn't think outside the box when it came to Luna, but he hoped that something wasn't happening in a year.
"Yeah," he finally answered, a cheerful tone in his normally dead voice. He couldn't wish for death around Luna.
"I have to go to sleep," Luna said, and Ember looked at his time on his phone.
It was only four in the afternoon, but he wouldn't hold her. He knew she was upset about something and he had a plan of his own to fulfill.
"Okay," he said, "love you."
"Love you too," Luna said before the loud beep rang out, signally that the call had ended.
Ember looked at his phone, a frown on his face as he went to his and Luna's messages.
Their last conversation was from yesterday, and yet, it felt like forever ago.
Ember stared at the screen for, at most, an hour. He debated on how to write it, or what to write.
By the time Ember finally figured out what he wanted to send, Dragon had curled up in his lap and fallen asleep, and the clock said ten past three.
