Chapter 17- The Walima

Zahra's PoV
I went to the salon with my mother in law and sister in law to get ready for the Walima. I wore a purple decorated traditional dress with a gold hijab and a purple dupatta on top. A beautiful tika rested on my forehead. A golden necklace was layered on top of my scarf . Several bangles adorned my wrists. My make up was perfectly done. I once again looked like a bride.

We left the salon and went to the banquet hall, which was beautifully decorated

We left the salon and went to the banquet hall, which was beautifully decorated. Ali was sitting down on a chair but stood up as soon as he saw me and walked over towards me.

Ali's PoV
As soon as I laid eyes on her as she entered the room with my mother and sister, I couldn't stop glancing at her and feeling so grateful that she's truly mine. Yesterday, she looked so beautiful in a traditional way but today she looked so comfortable and confident,even as she noticed my eyes upon her, which made a small smile appear, making her look breathtakingly stunning. I was brought back from my deep thoughts by the sweet voice of my mother.

"My son, I'm so proud of you." Said my mum. "Zahra always looks beautiful." I walked up to her and took her small hands in my own to kiss them as time was frozen and I focused just on her. "There's my beautiful bride." She blushed and smiled, looking down shyly. I laughed "princess just admit that you're beautiful." She giggles too as I walked beside her, ever so slightly leading the way with my head held high with pride because that's what she is for me; my pride and honour. As we got closer I asked her to stop and I stood behind her, my hands covering her eyes until my surprise was revealed to her...

On the table there was an Iranian wedding spread known as the Sofreh Aghd with different sweets, delicacies, nuts and spices to represent the different flavours in marriage and the Holy Quran and other Islamic books to represent the words of God that are going to be part of our lives as well as candles, mirrors and lights to represent light.

The Sofreh Aghd is usually part of an Iranian wedding day but as it is more of a cultural aspect, I decided to incorporate it into our reception day instead as in our wedding day, we just had the time to have a religious gathering with the Quran a...

The Sofreh Aghd is usually part of an Iranian wedding day but as it is more of a cultural aspect, I decided to incorporate it into our reception day instead as in our wedding day, we just had the time to have a religious gathering with the Quran and the Nasheeds being recited, followed by the Nikkah, our father's made a speech, we ate some food and cut the cake.
