Scene Thirty-Seven:
Katelyn was debating on white bread or rye, when Jordan just lost his patience. He knew that she was only trying to distract him, to keep his mind occupied so that he could easily forget the confrontation Christofer had with Stephen and at some extent he graciously thanked her for doing so.
But sadly, it was easier said than done for the troubled boy to just let his mind repair the damage it was dealt with from seeing his lover converse with the enemy.
"Katelyn," Jordan said in a clipped tone, his hands tightened their grip on the plastic handle of the shopping cart. His entire aura was projecting frustration: his jaw was clenched, his shoulders and posture tense. All Jordan wanted to do was go home and await the moment Christofer stepped foot in his house, just so he could barricade him and demand answers. "If you could hurry this stupid shopping trip up, that'd be great."
Not at all miffed by his attitude, Katelyn placed her hands on her hips and glared at him. "I'm trying my best, but it seems like we needed a lot more than just milk. I'm only doing this for your own good."
Jordan scowled at her, he didn't need anyones pity or sympathy. And it wasn't her problem to deal with, she wasn't romantically involved with Christofer nor did she even remotely understand what Jordan was feeling at the moment. "I don't need you to feel sorry for me about this and treat me like a child. I can handle this Christofer issue on my own."
"I wasn't talking about Christofer." Katelyn drew a long breath, tossing the rye bread into the cart before tugging on the end so the duo could make their way towards the beverage aisle. Once there, she started to stack up on water bottles before turning back to Jordan, who was pursing his lips in anticipation. "I'm doing this to make sure your mother doesn't kill you for eating all her groceries. And if you bring them to her, she'll be even more forgiving!"
Jordan rubbed his temples, agitated by Katelyn's behavior and demeanor. All he wanted was to finish this trip and go home to sulk in his bedroom, maybe even lock himself in. The scenarios playing through his head weren't healthy for his mental well-being and the need to know was consuming him whole as every passing second went by.
Katelyn shook her head and began her departure into a new aisle, which smelled like soap. The shelves held bottles of shampoo and conditioner, while smaller shelves held other products. Jordan watched as he lay against the handle of the cart, as Katelyn stood in front of a shelf containing boxes of hair dye, she pursed her lips in thought before grabbing a box in one hand and held it up to him with a suggestive smile.
Jordan looked at her blankly, a feeling of dread creeping up his spine at her smile.
"Don't look so glum," She said, rolling her eyes. "The hair dye is because your streaks are starting to fade and I'm getting tired of them. And I actually have a new style for you to sport and it'll look great on you!"
"Does it involve using scissors?"
"Well, yes, but it's so cute and flirty!" Katelyn was practically bouncing on the balls of her feet with excitement.
"No." Jordan said with finality. He had stopped listening to her when she admitted that it would cut some of his luscious locks.
He stood behind the cart, using it as a barrier when Katelyn took a threatening step towards him, her eyes narrowed and a finger pressed against his chest. "Mock my words, Jordan Witzigreuter, you will flaunt this style. Even if I have to cut your hair in the dead of night, I will!"
Jordan flinched when she tossed the box into the cart. She then sashayed towards a new shelf, leaving Jordan to glance at her with wide eyes and see her grab an elongated box before it became hidden from his watchful gaze. With a newly founded curiosity, he began to wonder its possibilities.
