Scene Twenty:
Tapping his fingers against his warm plate, Jordan hid the smile that was threatening to break through his cold exterior. He was greedily awaiting the use of the ketchup bottle that Katelyn was currently using for her pile of chicken tenders.
His mother was shaking her head at the two of them, wondering why she was dragged onto the lunch date in the first place. She had reprimanded them many times before when they were of the ages that this behavior was normal.
But not when they were twenty.
"Can you hurry up, my fries are sitting here naked!" Jordan shouted, reaching towards the red bottle. His patience was already up, those slim and golden fries of goodness were laying on the plate all alone. Jordan had already finished his burger and was expecting the salty release they would give him. If only he had ketchup on them, then he'd be satisfied.
"Oh be quiet, you can wait a few more seconds." Dabbling the liquefied tomato over her crispy tenders, she inched out of Jordan's grasp once more. "Stop it!"
"Not until you let me use the ketchup bottle! You'll give yourself a heart attack, Katelyn!"
"Shut up, Jordan. You're just jealous of me, and of my chicken tenders. I saw you eyeing them before!" Slamming the bottle onto the diner's table, Katelyn huffed and crossed her arms over her chest in defeat. "You know what, just take it already. You big baby."
Jordan smiled, eagerly dripping the ketchup over his fries and munching on them right away. The taste they provided made him groan and close his eyes, he had missed this salty type of food over his many tours. Which was why he ordered them now.
He was getting picked up in a few hours to get back on the road and on schedule. This was going to be his last moments shared with his mother and best friend until a three month period. It frustrated Jordan that he couldn't take the two most important people of his childhood with him on tour, which he had begged for years ago, but he knew he had a commitment to make for his band and fans. He was to stay solely focused on the music for now and could have fun later.
Dropping the remains of her sandwich, Jordan's mother stood up and kissed his cheek. "You two are going to give me a migraine, so before that happens I'm going to leave and finish some laundry. Remember, no partying while on tour. Love you." Brushing her fingers through his unruly hair, his mother placed one final kiss to his temple before walking out of the diner doors and leaving her faith in her responsible son.
Katelyn watched her go before turning her attention back to Jordan, a mischievous glint in her eyes now. "Should I be expecting late night phone calls of you asking me what positions are that most sensational, while on you're tour and escapading off with Christofer?"
Jordan swallowed his half eaten fry too early, choking on it for a few moments before clearing out the water in his eyes and taking huge gulps of his drink. "Don't say it like that! You make me sound like some sexual fiend whose only thoughts are running off with my boyfriend to waste a few hours. It was only one time, and no; I wont be calling you about that either."
