This is a spin-off chapter, it doesn't effect the plotline or previous chapter/future chapters in the least. It's just a cute chapter for the holiday of Valentine's Day and it's also my thanks to you guys for sticking with me from the beginning.
February, 14th:
Jordan's feet ached, but he knew that the pain would be worth it in the end just by the look on Christofer's face. Even in the frigid cold weather, picturing his large smile warmed Jordan to his very core.
The line at the local street-shop florist was massive, but seeing as how it was expected on this holiday Jordan didn't mind it so much. He knew he should have done this yesterday, to avoid this situation, but he was too busy coming up with dinner reservations and music lyrics. After all, he was due for some new beats and albums.
Jordan noticed that the man in front of him was visibly shaking. Unlike Jordan who wore a heavy jacket, he was sporting a simple crew-neck. And his long hair might have kept his ears warm for the time-being, but the man kept stuffing his hands in his sleeves and shoving his face under the warmth of the fabric at his neck. It was obvious that he was freezing, but refused to say or do anything about it.
"Do you want a scarf or something?" Jordan asked, politely. He didn't want to intrude or seem like he was trying to annoy the man, but his concern was starting to grow when he noticed the purple tint to the man's skin color. Which was now turning a faint blue hue. "I even have gloves you can borrow."
The man turned around fully, looking at him with wide eyes. It was like he had never been asked something so simple yet generous. "No, no, I'm fine." He mumbled, his eyebrows drawing down in confusion. "That was very kind of you though."
Jordan shrugged, "You looked cold, I only offered to let you borrow something to help. It's not that big of a deal."
The man laughed suddenly, his breath fanning out in a mist form the cold temperature. "Every February fourteenth for the past six years I've stood at this corner to buy my girlfriend a rose, and not once has anyone offered me anything. Whether it was raining, snowing or hailing."
Speechless, Jordan stood before the man wondering how someone could be so rude and ignorant to another human being.
"I guess what I'm trying to say," The man mumbled again, "Is that I'm extremely thankful that there are some people who actually care." With that said, the man had bought the flowers he wanted, bid Jordan a nice day and was off on his own -- leaving Jordan in a swarm of confusion. It was quickly broken when the man selling the bouquets asked him what he wanted.
As Jordan walked along the sidewalks in Manhattan, he noticed just how different the air seemed that day. It was almost as if he could feel the love, pouring into his soul from the citizens around him. Whether they were single or not, they had hope this day. It could be hope for a secret admirer, or even hope that the one they love will be awaiting them with a cooked meal. Either way, the sun seemed to shine a little brighter and smiles seemed bigger.
To Jordan, this specific holiday wasn't always so important to him. It was a day where he would show those he cared for with flowers and chocolates, but he never felt a deep meaning to it like most individuals did.
As Jordan by-passed a couple holding hands and laughing, he thought of what his own plans were for this holiday. It would be his first time spending it with Christofer and he knew he wanted to make it special, for both of them. Although he couldn't decide upon how far he wanted to take it.
