Chapter Seven: First Date
Each time I returned to Korea I realized how much I had missed it when I was away and this time was no different. Just like last time one of the representatives picked me up from the airport and drove me to the hotel which would be where I was staying for the next couple of days before I moved in with my husband.
The closer it got to the start of this show the more nervous I got, which didn't make any sense. Sure meeting someone was tough but they were setting me up with someone that I may or may not know and that was the scary part.
If it was someone I know it had the potential to be someone I didn't like. While if it was someone I didn't know there was a chance that there could be a huge language barrier. And it wasn't like anybody was going to tell me anything, everyone made sure that there was no chance to know who my mystery husband was before the time when it was needed. I wasn't scared I knew whoever it would be would be nice and kind that's how these shows always go, it was just the wait that fueled my nerves.
Our first meeting I knew would be the most nerve-racking part as I would have no idea who I was meeting until we met. But my only problem was I had to meet him, I was worried because it was like being set up on a blind date and many of those do not go well.
It would be interesting though because I was very immersed in the American culture while many Asian countries cultures were drastically different. Who ever I matched with was either going to like that or hate it. And I didn't really want to know which I would rather this whole thing be over with but I agreed and I was going to have to stick it out.
Today was the big day I was standing in what appeared to be the middle of nowhere patiently waiting for my husband to arrive. "How are you feeling," one of the producers asked from behind the camera.
"Nervous, I just want to get this over with so I can get rid of my nerves," I said giving a smile towards the camera.
"Who are you expecting," she asked trying to keep the awkwardness out of the air.
"Someone I don't know, I'm not sure I haven't thought of it a lot," I said with a small shrug staring off into the distance.
I perked up slightly as I saw a black car heading our way with what I assume was my husband in the back of it. My breath stopped my eyes trained on the car watching as it slowly came to a stop in front of me.
I couldn't help but let out a gasp at the man who stepped out of the car not believing my eyes. "Ong," I said staring at him.
The boy that I had not seen since his debut stood in front of me with a smile and a bocca of flowers. "Hana," he said back both of us were clearly surprised by this whole thing as usually, you met with someone you didn't know.
We glanced at the producer silently asking if this was true and there had not been some sort of mistake. "So we have your first challenge," she said holding out an envelope for one of us to take. Both of us were still a little shocked and it took us a second to move to grab the card she held out to us.
Go on a first date
It was simply something that I was sure we both knew how to do but we still were both a little shocked by the whole thing. "How about lunch" Ong suggested giving me a small smile.
Nodding I followed the man into the car happy to be out of the freezing temperature outside. Thankfully there was a camera set up in the car so there wasn't some random person sitting with us the whole ride. "So you were about the last person I was expecting" I revealed glancing around the car.
