Lauren grew annoyed with the countless boys coming up to her trying to make conversation. All she did was smile and pretend to be interested as she knew her father was watching intently. She sighed looking at her drink that had just been sitting in her hands for god knows how long.
She rubbed at her temple as she knew this night was not going to finish any sooner. She started to walk out the ballroom wanting to breathe but before her foot could step out she was stopped.
"Where do you think you're going?" She heard as a hand grabbed her arm turning her around. She sighed as she looked down not wanting to look at her father's eyes.
"I'm going to the bathroom," she said quietly pulling her arm back. Her dad sighed as he looked behind him. "Is that a problem? Lauren questioned knowing her dad was going to be forceful.
"Uh," her dad started but shook his head after not wanting to make Lauren feel forced. "You can go, just don't go running off," her dad gave her a kiss on the forehead and let her go.
Lauren frowned as she walked out, confused on the sudden behavior. But she shook it off not wanting to go back and confront him about it. She stopped suddenly looking behind her. She hated herself at that moment, she wanted to be happy but during that thought she wanted to please her parents.
She was going to go back but Dinah had already seen her, "Lauren, come here I want you to meet someone you will absolutely love," Dinah yelled out as Lauren turned back around with a fake smile.
"I hope it's my death," Lauren said quietly to herself as she followed Dinah to the kitchen suddenly nervous on meeting this person.
"This is Lauren, the princess of this castle," Dinah introduced Lauren to the new chef as they turned around smiling.
"Holy shit," they said but quickly covered it up with a cough. "I meant, hi I'm chef, the new Camila," they said sticking a hand out. Dinah busted out laughing not caring how loud she was. "Shit, I mean I'm Camila, the new chef," they covered up, their cheeks red and with that Lauren smiled grabbing their hand shaking it.
"Girl, what happened to the sass? You literally turned into this puppy," Dinah said grabbing a plate. "Now excuse me I have guests to feed," she said rolling her eyes clearly not wanting to be there at all.
Camila chuckled as she sat down on the kitchen counter taking off her bandanna on her head. "So you're the infamous princess?"
Lauren shook her head with a smile as she sat next to Camila, "I really wish I wasn't."
"Why is that? It's every little girl's dreams. My little sister says she's going to marry a prince one day," Camila said with a smile, and Lauren knew she felt very comfortable with her.
"Oh really?" Lauren questioned and Camila nodded with a chuckle. "Well she can have my place because I really don't want to be here."
Camila frowned getting off the counter grabbing Lauren's hand, "Come on," Lauren was confused on the gesture but at the moment Camila touched her hand she had fallen. She felt alive.
"Where are we going?" Lauren questioned as Camila was just pulling her to what she could assume was the top of the castle. Camila stayed silent not wanting to answer any of Lauren's questions. "So you're just going to be silent the whole time. I actually was really into your voice," Lauren said biting her lip.
Camila was taken back by that the way her hand started to sweat, Lauren smiled as she knew the reaction she got was the same one she had gotten.
"We're here," Camila said as they went out on a balcony. "This is my favorite place from this whole entire castle."
"Really? Why?" Lauren questioned as Camila grabbed her face making her look at the view rather than her. "Oh woah," Lauren said as she leaned in closer to the edge admiring the moon shine bright.
"Beautiful," Camila said and Lauren nodded but Camila wasn't talking about the moon but rather at Lauren. Lauren felt her stare and turned to her and gave her a smile.
Camila smiled back and wondered what else she could say but the silence seemed comforting. Lauren leaned her head on Camila's shoulder, leaving it there as she admired the moon.
"I really don't want to leave this place," Lauren said quietly and Camila nodded. "I don't want you to leave this place," Lauren continued letting her words come out. "I don't want the Disney perfect ending, I want my happy ending."
"Then let's not leave," Camila said as Lauren stood up standing in front of Camila. "Let's make that happy ending true," she continued and with that Lauren leaned in kissing Camila's cheek.
"Okay," Lauren said with a smile and Camila turned even redder than before. Not realizing that the happy ending Lauren wanted was right there in front of her.
