One moment you have it all and the next everything was gone. Lauren didn't understand that until now. She didn't know what to do so she did what anyone could do, run. Run to anywhere she felt she wouldn't feel the presence of the woman who broke her heart.
But it was no use. Lauren had found out the hard way. Camila was always going to be right there.
Everywhere she was, she was there. Staring at her, almost mocking her in a way. She couldn't even enter a store without hearing her voice, she couldn't even turn on the radio. Perks of having a superstar ex-girlfriend, she guesses. She couldn't help but get angry when the song Consequences had came on the radio. Because if anything she was the broken one, she should be writing a song just like that one.
She should be exposing Camila to the world how she left her for someone new. How the consequences of falling in love with someone had stabbed her right in the heart. But she knew better.
She knew the song wasn't about her. She knew Camila didn't mean to hurt her. So why couldn't she just forgive her?
The answer was simple, she didn't run with her.
Camila didn't run to her, she ran to someone else and from the looks of it she was happy. The smile that Lauren had adored was there plastered on her face. The lips she loved against her own were on someone else. And those eyes, they sparkled for someone else.
Lauren shouldn't have come back. Miami wasn't her home anymore. It was never her home, the home she thought she had built for her and Camila was now replaced for someone new. The thought of marriage, a family, and growing old with each other were now Camila and someone else's dream.
It hurt more to see her than to hear her. She shouldn't have come back, and at that moment she decided to keep running. She didn't know where to because she had basically visited the whole entire world occupying herself these past years. But she was here and stood still not moving, why the hell was she here?
She felt someone bump into her when Lauren had exited the small coffee shop and when she felt the hand and heard the small 'sorry' she knew the world had stopped. She turned to apologize herself not really thinking it was going to be who she thought it was gonna be. But when sad brown eyes caught her attention she pulled her arm away not wanting to feel Camila.
"It's okay," Lauren said quickly as she turned around and started to walk away but then she heard rapid footsteps behind her and now knew that Camila was now running after her. She didn't like that so she kept walking not turning when she heard her name. Just keep fucking walking, Lauren told herself not wanting to fall into another Cabello trap.
"Can you just," Camila said out of breath as she grabbed Lauren's arm turning her around. "Wait, please," she continued and when she saw tears well in Lauren's eyes she instantly regretted even stopping her. She didn't want Lauren to ever feel pain but she knew she was the one who caused that.
"For what?" Lauren spat out harshly and Camila flinched at the way Lauren had pulled her arm away. "So you can hurt me again?" Lauren chuckled out and she quickly wiped her hand on the tear that had dared to come out. "I don't have time for that, I have to-"
"I'm sorry," Camila interrupted as she knew Lauren was ready to run again. "I am so fucking sorry," she said almost pleading for Lauren to hear her out. "I didn't mean to hurt you, Lauren. I swear I didn't-"
"You just happened to fall in love and didn't know how to break up with me like a normal fucking human being, Camila," Camila knew Lauren was more than angry, she was furious. She had a point Camila could have done something normal instead she did the most awful thing a human can do. "You are just so unbelievable," and with that Lauren started to walk away again.
"I'm sorry alright, I was a fucking dick," Camila shouted out as she followed Lauren once again not wanting to stop her. "I should have been straight up with you and I wasn't," Camila pleaded once again and when she felt Lauren's back hit her front she wondered why she had stopped.
"You know I'm not really that angry that you cheated," Lauren confessed and this time she didn't try to hard to let tears hit her cheeks. "I'm angry that the one promise you promised you would never break. You actually broke. You remember-"
"I promise I will never hurt you," Camila said lowly. She remembered it was like yesterday. It was the day Lauren had been pushed around and Camila had saved the day. Lauren was so scared to be touched by Camila but she promised her she wouldn't. She pinky promised and with that Camila felt a stabbing pain in her heart. She looked up to see Lauren crying not caring of the people around her seeing her in such a broken state.
"I'm happy that you found someone," Lauren said lowly. "Someone who can give you what I couldn't. I don't know what the fuck that is," Lauren chuckled and Camila couldn't help the tiny smile when she saw Lauren smile a bit. "But I'm happy for you."
"Thank you," Camila said and with that Lauren finally walked away. She didn't chase after her though, she didn't feel the need to chase after her. She may have not gotten the forgiveness that she wanted. A feeling she felt would help those big ole boulders on her shoulders fall off but it was a start. A start to something Camila didn't actually know to what.
2 years later...
"Hello Los Angeles," Camila yelled into the microphone as the crowd roared of just screaming hormonal girls who were questioning their sexuality with just looking at her. "How are you tonight?" She asked and she heard the roaring once again. She chuckled as everyone quieted down a bit, "I have news guys," she began and with that she heard the loud whispering around her and she smiled as she lifted her left hand up with a smile, "I'm engaged!"
"Oh my god, did you hear that Lauren?" Lauren smiled as she held the girl in her arms tighter. "She's engaged! Holy fuck!" she laughed as the girl turned around grabbing her waist squeezing a bit. "When are you going to propose to me, huh Jauregui?"
Lauren laughed as she saw the girl wiggling her eyebrows as if she was waiting for her to drop on one knee and propose, "I'll propose when you admit that tomatoes are gross," she gave her a scrunched face and the girl in front of her smiled. A smile she thought she would never see in her life, a smile full of adoration and love.
"I'll admit that right now if it means spending the rest of my life with you," and with a small kiss on her lips she turned around swaying them both to the song Camila was playing. Lauren smiled as she gave her a kiss on the top of her head seeing Camila sing full of passion.
Some would say that Camila and Lauren found who they really are, but Lauren would call that utter bullshit. She was still very much a puzzle piece and she would still call Camila a complete asshole but what they did find was someone who can handle and support and love them no matter the shit they go through.
Camila had found out that Lauren had found someone new when she saw an Instagram post of her holding a woman in her arms that she knew as Sophia Messa. She smiled at that picture as she had commented a fire emoji to let them though they looked very hot together.
They may have never and probably never will fix their damaged relationship but she knew to give Lauren the space and happiness to figure everything out and Lauren did the same for her. They were both just happy that they were now truly happy. Happier they have ever been, even when they were together.
So in the end, they lived happily ever after.
