Hitch sat at his desk- there was something wrong with Ruby, he knew it. The kid didn't act like this always, but when she did- it always meant something was wrong. And he was going to find out. He considered talking to LB to get someone to track her. Yes that's what he would do. He called LB on his watch and it went through:
"Yes," drawled a gravelly voice impatiently. Hitch launched into the conversation instantly.
"The kid is acting weird..."
"And how is that of any importance..."
"It is because it only happened today. It is Ruby's birthday..."
"You called to inform me that I didn't say happy birthday to her!" said LB even more impatiently.
"LB, you know as well as I the kid doesn't act like this, there is something off about her."
"Explain the situation Hitch."
"Ruby went outside for a while when she was having her party. When I came out looking for her she looked like she'd seen a ghost. I think its something to do with the Count if you ask me." LB considered this for a moment.
"So you want us to tag her..."
"Yes, for the safety of the kid and ours."
"Right," she sighed, "I'll get someone on it." with that she disconnected. He sighed in relief and exasperation.
