Bradley Baker woke up the next morning and saw Ruby sleeping next to him. He smiled.
Just then a doctor walked in and signalled that she needed to talk to him for a moment. He stepped outside taking a lingering look.
"Yes?" he asked hopefully.
"Her condition is critical, there is a chance but it is small..." Bradley took a deep breath.
"She has a chance, and my Loveday will always take it." he said in vague hope that it may comfort him. The doctor smiled sadly.
"We're doing all we can." and left. He walked in and by that time Ruby had woken up.
"What did they say?"
"She... is in a... critical condition." he said his voice breaking slightly.
"I'm sure she will be fine..."
"Now I know how you feel losing your friends."
"Bad, huh?" With that Bradley and Ruby sat down, praying that all this would be over soon.
Just then Hitch walked in.
"Bradley..." For the first time did Ruby see the flicker of unease I his eyes.
Hit bait eyed the room Bradley was just about to lose her, though only once but LB, had lost him thrice.
"Ruby, Bradley we need to talk." They both stepped outside.
