Kai quietly sits at the grave of her mother. She arises on all fours and places a single pink rose on to the grave. The other roses that laid bare for all to see were red, yellow, and dark red. A single white stargazer lily was gently rested next to the pink rose. Kai quickly peeks up to see Soul and Shade standing near her.
"We wanted pay our repects and come check on you...are you alright with that?" Soul asks, avoiding her eyes. Kai sighs and quietly nods her head, "No...it's fine. You can stay. I've given myself time to recover at least. It's been a couple of heavy days." She reponds, looking down at her paws. She would never forget that dreadful day. The day many were killed as well as her mother.
Shade nuzzles her on the head, "She will not be forgotten. Don't you worry and no more tears. You're strong just like her. A spiting image."
Kai looks up at him and smiles through her tears. "Thank you. For everything." Shade wasn't wrong. Not even a little. She was strong like Sala and she needed to be. She wasn't alone and she never was.***
A sudden thought hits Shade. The egg! He glances at Soul and Kai, "Are you two up for a little flight to the LightFeather Kingdom?" He asks with an anxious ring to his voice. Soul looks over at him with a glare, "Seriously? You're asking something like that at a time like this?! Shame on you!" The StormFeather dragon lectures.
"No! I didn't mean it like that. Something feels weird in my gut. My paws are tingling! The egg, Soul! Your kid!" Shade exclaims quickly. He was nearly shouting and scaring Kai half to death.
"There's an egg? You have a child, Soul?" Kai asks in a sudden shock. Her eyes seemed to have been cleared of sadness. There was only surprise and excitement in them. Shade nods his head and leads the way to the castle.***
The three enter the room of the egg. Kai and Shade sit there patiently while Soul examines the egg. The white feathered dragon eyes Shade and sighs. "You have to be kidding me. Shade I doubt that the egg will hatch today."
The gray and black Moonlight wolf slowly walks towards the egg, completely ignoring Soul's comment. Shade places a paw gently in the egg, watching it curiously. Then it shakes.
Soul and Kai exchange looks and stare back at Shade. Shade takes a step back, taking his paw off the egg. The egg continues to shake. Then a single piece of egg shell breaks off followed by the rest. What sat in front of them seemed to be the most amazing thing in Shade's eyes.***
A tiny newborn dragon sat in front of the trio. Its body is covered in white feathers and scales and its eyes were a bright light blue. It blinks once and releases a small squeaky sneeze.
Soul stares back his newborn child, wide eyed. He takes a deep breathe and closes his eyes."You know I can just take them if you don't want them" Shade teases pointing a paw at the baby dragon sitting in the broken egg shell.
"What...no! Not in a thousand years or how ever long you hybrids live. You can be the uncle like you've always have" Soul suddenly protests.
"Okay, okay! I'm joking...that's fine by me. So what gender is it and what are you going to name it?" Shade asks, staring back at Soul with concerned eyes.
The FeatherStorm dragon slowly approaches the baby dragon, sniffing its scent. "Its...female! I can tell because the females of my kind smell a lot nicer than males" Soul informs them. Kai rolls her eyes, "Don't females always smell nicer than males?" Shade snickers "Sometimes."
Soul glares back at Shade and flares his nostrils. "The tail is also shorter in length. A male baby dragon would have a tail two or more inches longer then her's." He points out, looking back at his newborn.
A name...what could I name her? Soul had all the time in the world. Well, for a least a while that is. What was he going to name her? Does BlazeHeart even care to know?
Kai suddenly speaks up, breaking the silence "We could go in the garden area and think of names with the flowers. I know it sounds girly but, it's worth a try" she suggests. "No we should make her Souletta...no! We should name her Soul Jr." Shade perks up, suggesting outrageous names. Soul rolls his eyes and nods his head towards Kai. The three travel out back to the garden with Soul gently carrying the baby by the nape of its neck.***
"Look a bloom of daisies! Oh, lilies!" Kai exclaims, with wide eyes while beaming.
Soul turns his head to a tree with small violet flowers hanging off of it. "What is that?" He asks Kai, while pointing a talon at the flowers. The blue wolf pauses for a moment then answers "Those flowers are known as wisteria. Do you like them?" She then asks. Soul hesitants for a moment then replies "I do but...give me time. Will you?" The small blue wolf nods.
Soul feels something small and soft brush up against his hind leg. He peers down to see his daughter resting her head on his talon. She closes her eyes while curling up. A pang of guilt hits him. I don't know what to do...all know is that I must be there for her! Then a sudden realization came to him. He didn't know why, but he had the urge to say it.
"Whitney. How do you like that for a name?" Soul leans his head down, whispering to his daughter. The tiny dragon hybrid looks up and purrs with delight. Whitney it is!
