Ch. 11

Herc's POV:

     I sit in a chair by Laf's bed as she sleeps not wanting to leave her alone after this morning.  Everyone else left but they all thought I should stay and I agreed, I just don't want her to be alone right now.

     After this morning I've been at her side as much as possible so she could talk to me when ever she needs.  She just freaked me out and I didn't want her to feel alone like that ever again.

     She rolls over and looks at me still awake "having troubles sleeping?" I ask her, she nods her head.

     "I'm sorry again for crying so freaking much" she says with a weak laugh.  I look at her "it's ok I don't mind" I say honestly.

     She sighs deeply "it's just some many years of keeping my feelings in not being able to talk to anyone, it's just been so hard and with you I've just felt so comfortable, I've just felt like I could really talk to you" she says and I smile happily knowing she feels so comfortable around me. 

     I tilt my head remembering her telling me about her friend from last year "didn't you have a good friend in 6th grade?" I ask her she nods, I look confused "then why couldn't you talk to her, isn't that what friends are for?"

     She looks at me sadly "for awhile in the beginning of the year I would talk to her a little, but has we got farther into the year I didn't want to cry to her because... she has a really difficult life and my life compared to hers, I guess she just would be happier to be in my family then hers, and I just didn't want to go and cry to her when she had worse things going on with her, I just felt guilty."

     I nod my head understanding what she felt like "well it's ok now, you can talk to me about anything and I will always have a shoulder for you to cry on" I say with a smile.  

     She looks at me with a smile "thank you Herc, I'm so glad I found you" she says, and I blush slightly "I'm so glad I found you" I say looking into her eyes.

(time skip, the next morning)

     I wake up with a jump from Laf close the door after coming back from changing in the bathroom.  I look up at her and smile "good morning" I say as she grabs her stuff.  She jumps a little not seeing that I woke up "oh, sorry did I wake you up?" she asks a little worried, I say to her "no it's fine" I say looking at my watch "I should be getting up right now anyway, so it's fine."

     She nods her head "um, do you want any breakfast or anything?  I could probably get some cereal or something?" I shake my head "no, I'll be fine."  She nods her head "ok."

     I get up put on my shoes on and grab my backpack "so you ready to go?" I ask her looking at the time.  She looks at the time herself "ya, I'm ready."

     We walk out of the house and start to walk to school.  By the time we were clear from her house I grab her hand.  She smiles at me and grabs my hand back.

     We walk up to the school and see everyone in a big group waiting for us, once they see us they all start to run over to us.  They all look a little worried but see me and Laf calm and ok so they relax a little.

     "Hey guys" me and Laf say, they all say hi back and John asks "you guys ok?" he says a little worried.  Laf shrugs "ya, I'm good" she says, everyone relaxes more.

     Alex looks at me and I look at him "so Herc can I talk to you for a moment" he says looking seriously at me, I get what he means "oh, ya" I walk over away from the group with Alex.

     "Ok so I got most of the decorations set up, I told the group about everything and they are all helping out, so after school we just need to set up a couple more things then you can walk Laf to the park and do your stuff" he says with a smile, I hug him "thanks dude, you were a lot of help."

     He smiles "anything bro, especially if it's for you and Laf, you two are just so freaking cute together" he says with a smile, I blush a little "oh come on, we should get back to the group before Laf gets suspicious" he nods his head and we go back to the group.

     Laf looks at me confused "now what was that about?"  RING.   Everyone leaves to their class and me and Laf start to walk to our first class, I look down at her to answer her question "oh, Alex was just wondering how you were doing" Laf shakes her head "oh ok."
