The butterfly project

You sighed as someone dropped ANOTHER pile of documents on your desk. You groaned in frustration as Bella walked past you. She stopped at hearing your groan and glanced over to you. She then saw the pile of documents and giggled.

"Another pile?" Bella questioned as she placed her hand on her hip. You nodded solemnly. You then eyed the pile of paper as if it was humanity's worst enemy and reluctantly picked it up. You took out your pen and got started with the documents. Bella gave you a look of pity as she watched you work. You noticed her look and rolled your eyes.

"You know, if you're so sorry for me you could always take my place." You said as you offered her a piece of paper. Bella grimaced as she shook her head.

"No way, that's your work. Not mine." You pouted and put the paper down.

"Such a caring friend you are." You told just as the door to the office opened. You and Bella glanced to the side and saw Dr Oshay's assistant, Yuko. She smiled at you then glanced to Bella. She then gestured for Bella. Bella's eyes widened in surprise as she looked at you. You shrugged in response and watched as she followed Yuko out of the office.

Bella followed behind Yuko as they both made their way towards Dr Oshay's office. Both women then entered an elevator that lead to Dr Oshay's office. Bella shifted uncomfortably as the silence ensued. Finally after what felt like an eternity, Yuko spoke.

"I'm sure you're wondering why Dr Oshay called you into your office." Bella jumped when Yuko broke the silence and turned to her.

"Huh? Oh, uh, yes. I was wondering. Why did he call ME of all people into his office?" Bella questioned as she pointed to herself. Yuko smiled.

"Well you see, Dr Oshay has an assignment that he would like you to handle for him." Bella was about to question Yuko more but they had both arrived at the top floor. Bella and Yuko exited the elevator and made their way to Dr Oshay's office. They stopped and Bella watched as Yuko pressed a button signalling Dr Oshay of their presence. Not a moment later did the door open for the two, granting them access into the spacious room. Yuko walked in with a stride of confidence while Bella followed behind nervously. When Dr Oshay saw them, he smiled.

"Ah, Bella! I'm so glad that you could make it. Please, have a seat." Dr Oshay offered as he gestured to a chair that was situated just to the side of the desk. Bella did as she was told and sat down on the cushioned chair. She then looked up at Dr Oshay. "I'm sure Yuko must have informed you of why I have requested your presence. As you see I am in need of your assistance." Bella nodded as she listened to Dr Oshay's request.

You stretched your limbs just as you finished your paperwork and sighed in content. You had a look at the time and saw that it was five o'clock. You then heard the door to the office open and saw Bella walk in. You smiled and stood up to greet her.

"Bella!" You called as you ran to your friend. Bella smiled and waved. "So what did Dr Oshay ask of you?" You questioned. Bella grinned and grasped your hands.

"He asked me to be a part of one of his current projects called the butterfly project!" Bella squealed. You raised your eyebrow while smiling.

"That's so cool Bella! But what's the butterfly project?" Bella grinned and put her finger over her mouth.

"It's a secret~" You pouted at Bella's secrecy.

"Aw, why can't you tell me?" You questioned. Bella shushed you.

"Hey, I wasn't even supposed to tell you about the project at all! All I know is that I get to travel to Kyoto to work on this project." Bella whispered. She then sighed. "Sadly I'll be gone for two or three months." Your eyes widened.

"What!? But why!? If you go, who will I talk to during these long hours?" You whined. Bella giggled.

"Oh come on Alice, I'm sure that a few months without me won't kill you." Bella joked. You sighed and nodded.

"Yeah, I guess. I'll just be lonely is all." Bella smiled. She then looked at the time.

"Well, I'd better be heading home. I've gotta prepare for my trip." Your eyes widened.

"Prepare? When are you leaving?"

"This Friday. I've only got a few days to prepare. So until then, I'll be at home." You pouted. You then smiled.

"Okay, then how about we go for a cup of coffee before you leave." Bella nodded.

"Sure, we can go to that new cafe in town that everyone has been talking about!" You grinned and the both of you made your way out of the building.

Astro flew to the ministry of science at full speed. He flew to Dr Oshay's office and flew in through the window. Dr Oshay glanced up and sighed when he saw Astro fly in threw the window.

"Astro how many times have I told you that you are not to fly in through the window?" Dr Oshay scolded. Astro chuckled nervously as he sweat dropped. He then looked around the room.

"Where's Yuko? Is she not here?" Astro questioned. Dr Oshay nodded.

"Yes, I let her head home early so that she could prepare." Dr Oshay told. Astro smiled.

"Oh, for the butterfly project right?" Dr Oshay nodded.

"Yes. I hope you've been getting prepared for it." Astro nodded as he hopped into the seat next to Dr Oshay's desk.

"Yep!" Astro then started fiddling with his fingers as he glanced to the side with an evident blush on his face. "So... just wondering but who's the scientist that's coming with us on the trip?" Dr Oshay noticed Astro's blush and smirked. He then chuckled while shaking his head.

"The scientist who will be joining us on our trip is Bella Milkaviche. She works in the research facility." Dr Oshay told. Astro's eyes widened and he stood up.

"What!? But I thought Y/N was going to be joining us on this trip!" Astro exclaimed as he banged his hands on the desk. He then quickly apologised and straightened. Dr Oshay shook his head, waving off the apology.

"Now now, Astro. Even though Y/N may be a talented scientist, she's still a lower rank. She doesn't yet qualify to be on this mission." Astro pouted.

"Then why not qualify her? She has the skills and is way better than what this Bella person could ever be!" Dr Oshay frowned.

"Astro, don't be rude." Astro sighed and sat down.

"Man, I really wanted to spend some time with her." Dr Oshay smiled.

"You will once you get back." Astro shook his head.

"But we'll be gone for three MONTHS! What if she forgets about me?" Dr Oshay deadpanned at him.

"Astro, she managed to wait for you for five years. I'm sure an extra few months won't be too long." Astro sighed and reluctantly nodded. He then had a look at the time and saw that it was five thirty.

"She must have gone home already." Dr Oshay nodded.

"Yes. I saw her walking with Bella outside of the ministry of science." Astro gave Dr Oshay a surprised look.

"Wait, Y/N and Bella know each other?" Dr Oshay nodded.

"Yes, in fact they are quite good friends." Astro's eyes widened. He then smiled.

"I'm glad to see that she's made a friend. I was actually starting to worry about her." Astro admitted sheepishly. Dr Oshay nodded.

"Yes, I did as well. Anyhow, it's getting pretty late now so you should head home now." Astro nodded.

"Will do. See you Dr Oshay!" Astro told as he waved goodbye. Dr Oshay waved and watched as Astro flew off out the window. He then realised what Astro just did.

"Astro! How many times do I need to tell you not to fly in and out the window!?" Dr Oshay screeched. He then heard a quick 'sorry' from Astro in the distance and sighed. He then closed the window and sat back down in his seat.
