The silence was killing me. I paced around the alpha's office waiting for someone to come and tell me everything was clear. It was ironic that over two months ago I hid in here when I first met Korin. My hand around the sword tighten as I stared at the door. I walked over placing my ear against it and was greeted with nothing. Ugh!!! I hated this. The four windowless walls seemed to be closing in on me and I wanted out. I ran my hand over the hidden dagger that I had underneath my breast making sure it was secure. Then checked for the other dagger that was strapped to my thigh. Although both daggers were small, they were lethal. Both were dipped in silver and made to cause excruciating pain to its victims.
I sank onto the couch and waited. Thirty minutes had ticked by and I couldn't take it anymore For all I knew the royals killed Trevor and Korin. I rose from the couch and went over to the door. I cracked the door open to an empty hall. I squeeze through the door and silently shut it behind me. I crept along the hallway pausing every few steps for any sounds. The house was eerily quiet and the thought that maybe Trevor and Korin was dead leaped to the forefront of my mind. If that is true, then that means that they were searching the house for me. I shook my head to get rid of those morbid thoughts. There was no way Korin and Trevor was dead.
I was almost at the stairs when a pair of arms wrapped around me, one at my waist and the other over my mouth, pulling me into a room.
"Celina it's me." I gratefully sank back into Korin's arms. I turned around looking at him with questioning eyes. "There are three royals in here, searching for you. Trevor killed two of them upstairs, we don't know where the other one is. I'm here to make sure he doesn't get anywhere near the office. Why the hell did you come out!" he whispered angrily.
"I couldn't take it anymore. I thought maybe you were hurt." Korin closed his eyes trying to calm his breathing.
"Trevor has swept the upstairs there is no one there. He is heading down."
"Maybe we need to flush the guy out. Use me as bait."
"No way! It's too dangerous."
"It's the only way to make him come out. I have you and Trevor protecting me. I will not be in danger. Korin, you know this the only way."
Korin looked to the side and mindlinked Trevor. "Trevor doesn't like the idea either, but agrees. It will be quicker to flush out the guy. I want you go into the living room and we will take it from there."
I smiled elated that I was finally back into the action. Even if it was fleeting, I would not be hiding in the alpha's office. I left the room that Korin pulled me into and headed for the living room. I slowly scanned the area looking for any signs of the other royal. I stopped in the middle of the room slowly turning and looking at all entry points into the living rooms. The piano that use to be here was gone after Korin's wolf demolished it during our first encounter. The glass windows that looked over the backyard was replaced but there was nothing out there to see. There was no clear view to the battlefield so I couldn't see what was happening.
"So did you get tired of hiding, cousin." The missing royal was none other than my sick and twisted cousin, Sebastian. I turned to face him and he stared at me with one of his sly grin, his arms crossing over his chest as he leaned against the door frame of the dining room. "Come out, come out, where ever you are boys." Sebastian taunted.
Korin came from left and Trevor came from the stair behind me, both looking deadly and ready to pounce on Sebastian.
"Well I hope there is no hard feelings about the time we spent together. We did have some fun times." Sebastian laughed never changing his relaxed state. "You ready to get down to business? Celina, you may want to close your eyes, I don't want you to see when I kill your lap dogs!"
