The last time I was here it was amidst the shitty sewers and taking down royals helping Celina and the others escape. Now I was walking up to the front door of the castle. I happily volunteered for this assignment. Maybe a part of me was a drama king, but I really didn’t want to miss out on the pandemonium I was about to create.
One of the reason I knew I could pull this off, was the fact that I wasn’t one of the people that came with Celina the day she and the others tried to convince the queens of her true identity. So my identity was not familiar. I had my hands full rescuing Korin and Trevor from that piece of shit, Sebastian. I shifted the weight from my shoulder and chuckled, well we don’t have to worry about him anymore.
I heard the clicking of guns, before the guards at the gates yelled down at me.
“Stop! Who are you and what do you want?”
Wiping the smile off my face and masking my true power of my wolf, I raised my hands and began to set things in motion. “Pl-Please don’t shoot. I was told to come and deliver a message to the king.” I cried.
“On whose authority?”
“Celina Vaser Richards.” I squeaked.
The guard didn’t respond and then the gates opened slowly revealing several royal guards decked out in their red armor. They aimed their guns at my head and I immediately fell to my knees, sobbing and begging for my life. Definitely an Oscar winning moment!
“Get up!” the guards surrounded me and roughly yanked me back up to my feet dragging me inside the inner sanctum of the castle. The gates closed behind sealing me in with the guards surrounding me and the sentries on the outer walls all pointing their guns at me. All attention was on me, one lowly wolf. Damn what did they think I would do?
“Follow me! The king wants to have words with you.”
I slowly followed taking in the layout and security that was on high alert. They were gearing up for war. At a distance on my left I saw battalion of maybe two hundred royals all standing still like dominos. I wanted to rush over and push the one on the end to see if they would fall into a pretty design.
The main building was set several hundred feet away from the entrance of the gate, which I assume served as their practice field and last line of defense before getting into the main building. Behind the main building there were several other buildings, some that were connected to the main building, while others were free standing. I knew that the sewers were located in the back of the property where Celina and the other infiltrated the castle, but I’m sure that way was blocked by now. The front was massive and intimidating, but not impenetrable. We walked up about fifty stone steps before reaching the landing of the main building.
Once inside there was spiral staircases on both side and a long hallway that ran down the middle on bottom and top. We stayed on the ground floor and making a couple of turns before halting in front an ornate door with a huge knocker on it. The knocker was on both sides of the double sided door in the shape of a wolf’s head and circular handle was hanging out of the mouth of each wolf. A little over the top if you ask me. The guard slammed the knocker against the door and waited for a reply.
The doors was swung open to reveal cavernous room and I spotted at my feet the red carpet. Really? Medieval times or what? I rolled my eyes and looked up to see the king sitting on a throne some 200 feet away. He was flanked on either side by three royals all dressed in armor but instead of guns they held long staffs. I had to bite my tongue, because I definitely wanted to see how well they could stand up to me and my baton. I was itching to engage with them but duty first.
