Chapter 43

Over the next month we prepared for our trip overseas to meet with the foreign council. We had to make sure that everything was in place here while we left. Keagan had come back to take over in our absence. I needed someone I trusted and Keagan was perfect for it. He has shown his leadership skills while dealing with the rouges across the country. Some he was able to convert and accept our ways while others had to be put down. He was fair, just and quick with his judgment and the people respected him and what he was doing for all of us. The people would follow his lead while I'm away.

We don't plan to stay long. Searcee had warned us to trust no one, so our plan was simple to introduce ourselves and then leave after reassuring them that we not a threat.

We flew into Germany last night and had follow the instructions by taking a train to small town. From there we made our way to a marina and caught a ferry to another town that was situated along the river. Trevor spotted the council boat and we were greeted with cool regards by a couple of men. This was the last leg of journey that would take us to the place that housed the foreign werewolf council, we all were tense and quiet.

We decided to keep our entourage small just myself, Korin, Colin, and my High Guard to show everyone that we were no threat. Our goal on this trip is to keep a low profile and reassure the council that we have no design in expanding our territory among the American territory.

The journey on the Rhine River was scenic passing tourist boats and more German towns situated on each sides of the river. We continue our trip down the twists and turns of the river and then turning off onto one of the intersecting waterways taking us away from civilization, the forest swallowing us up.

We all remained silent after another hour and half on the boat until we reached a narrow passageway that was barred by a privacy gate. The boat slowed as we got nearer to the gate with signs posted on the banks, private property and no trespassing.

The gate slowly opened allowing us entrance beyond the gate continuing our trip up the river. After thirty minutes another small town nestled on the side of the mountain came in view. We pulled up to a dock where several men and women stood guard each one dressed in black with a sliver insignia of a circle of seven stars and a silhouette of a woman in the center, sewn into the breast pocket. We stepped off the boat and were met with curious and hostile stares from the guards. On instinct my high guard tightened a circle around me as we moved.

Trevor was the first to speak through our mindlink. Everyone stay alert.

Jules growled at some of the guards at their open hostility and Korin hand gripped mine pulling me closer. Jules! Korin warned.

They need to show us some respect! Jules' voice boomed in our minds.

I'm with Jules, but we need to keep our cool Jules. Niko agreed glaring back at the surrounding guards. Do I need to pull out the shock stick?

Shut it! Jules relaxed a little giving Niko a dirty look.

Looking beyond the guards and the docks the streets that were litter with various stores were almost deserted. They were a few people walking down the street to our left pausing to glance at us and then quickly enter a building. Curtains in the nearest stores were swinging and I saw a couple of them slide closed with haste. It was obvious that people wanted to stay out of our path. Searcee was right, people were afraid of us.

A line of cars pulled up to the docks and doors opened and men poured out with automatic guns slung around their shoulders. They were dressed in dark blue with bands of gold around the leg and arms of the uniform. They also had an insignia on their chest made of gold, it was several interlocking circles with a wolf's head in the middle. Most of the men had various shades of blonde hair except for one. He stood out from the rest dressed in a gold uniform with bands of dark blue and dark hair with blonde streaks. He was definitely in charge as the men gathered behind him as he made his way towards us.
