I loved the glamour,
the pretty dresses
and all the makeup,
but part of me loved
the jumpers and track pants
that came after even more.
Seeing you there,
huddled under a blanket
and meeting my eyes
every now and then
against the back drop
of darkness and
a flickering tv screen,
was worth the aching feet
and sleep deprivation
a hundred times over.
