Chapter Seven: Feed

Stein's POV:

"Get out." I said with authority.

Jeremiah smirked and grabbed my arm, which was pinning him to the wall.

"Is that how you talk to your older brother?" His fangs slowly began to peek from behind his upper lip. "I own this manor too, Ezra. I go where I want."

I felt myself literally growling at him while my own fangs began to pierce my lip. I felt the frustration rising inside me.

Jeremiah tried to break free, but hesitated. "You're hiding someone up here, aren't you?"

"That's non of your business, Jeremiah." I said, shoving him into the wall again.

This time Jeremiah countered me, and switched our positions. One of his hands was clasped tightly around my neck. Causing me to hiss in pain, while simultaneously gasping for a breath.

"I'm the elder here, Ezra. Don't forget that." He released his grip on me and let me fall to the floor.

He continued to walk towards the kid's door. He quickly opened it, causing his smirk to grow wide. I mentally cursed when he walked in, closing the door behind him.

I ran after him, stopping short in the doorframe. Alex and Lee were both in their wolf forms, and Kat in her white panther-like form. Lucy and Violet stood behind Alex, while Max took his place behind Lee. His expression was one of anger-something that doesn't fit him.

"Why are you here?" Max Shouted.

"Didn't Ezra inform you of my visit?" He asked taking a step forward.

Alex instinctively started growling.

"Relax, I came to have dinner with my brother,"Jeremiah admitted. "But I caught a familiar scent and followed it up here."

He turned to me. "I just didn't think that my younger brother would do so much as to go against the council, let alone my wishes, to bring you here."

"Jeremiah, I think you should leave." I suggested.

"I was just heading out." He said as he leaned down a bit to tell me something in my ear. "Ezra, I'll overlook this for now, but if you go against me again you will face the consequences."

He left, shutting the door behind him.

Alex shifted back into his human form while Lee stayed in his wolf form.

"Shift back dude." Max said while rubbing Lee's head.

Lee immediately shifted back and sat on the floor, panting like a puppy.

"Mr. Stein?" Violet said as if asking what was happening.

"It's okay." I responded.

The last thing I wanted to do was scare them, but I was failing. I took a seat on one of the empty chairs in the room, and threw my head back.

This was stressing me out.

"Sir?" Thomas asked.

I opened my eyes to see Thomas and the kids looking at me with concerned faces. I didn't even hear him walk in.

"I think you might need some rest."

"I'm fine." I responded shaking him off.

He nodded and walked away, leaving me alone with the kids. Lucy's eyes were almost glowing red and I could see that she was distracted.

She still hasn't eaten yet.

"Lucy," I called.

Her attention was back on me.

"Come with me to my office. Bring Alex with you."

I left the room, with Alex and Lucy on my tail. I knew I had to confront Lucy about this, or else she'll break.

When we arrived, Lucy took a seat in my guest chair and Alex stood close behind.
I sat at my desk, and rested my elbows on the table.

"Lucy, your breaking." I said without holding anything back. "Why are you starving yourself?"

Alex crossed his arms. He looked like he agreed with what I'd just said.

"I can't." She said barely above a whisper. "I don't want to hurt people."

I did the only thing I could think to do. I pulled my sleeve up to reveal my pale wrist. I stood from my seat and hesitantly approached Lucy.

"Do you trust me?" I asked.

She nodded, but gave me a confused look.

"Then drink from me first."

Alex placed a hand on Lucy's shoulder. "Do it. This is for the best."

Lucy shook her head. "I'm not ready yet. I just need more time."

"You don't have time, Lucy." I tried to be as gentle as possible. "You're not human anymore. You're a vampire, human food won't satisfy you anymore."

I held out my wrist for her. "It's okay."

She grabbed my forearm and her fangs retracted, piercing my skin. Immediately her eyes turned pitch black and she dug in.

I'd be lying if I said it didn't hurt, but she needed this.

"Take as much as you need." I said as she continued to eat.

Alex looked like he wanted to step in, but I shot him a glace telling him not to. I began to feel lightheaded and weak. She drew back, wiping away her bloodstained lips with the back of her hand, as her eyes changed back to brown.

I sat back down at my desk happy at what Lucy had finally accomplished.

"How do you feel?" I asked.

She took a minute so that she could catch her breath. "Better."

"Go get some rest. Feeding will always take a lot out of you."

Lucy left with Alex, and Thomas walked in.

"If you just did what I think you just did, you need to get done rest as well, sir."
