Lucy's POV:I leaned back in my seat, taking in what I had just done.
I felt way better, amazing even, but I felt so wrong. I wiped away the remaining blood on my lips and looked at Mr. Stein with apologetic eyes.
"Don't be sorry. You did what you needed to do." He reassured.
I shook my head. What would've happened if I had waited one more day? I could barely control myself now, what would happen when Mr. Stein wasn't there?
"Go get some rest. You'll need it. After your first feeding your energy will waver, so try and take it easy." He suggested.
Alex walked me back to the Room and sat very close to me. "How was it?"
"What?"
"Your first feeding?"
Why was he asking?
"It was weird." I responded. "But it helped. I feel much better."
I sighed and sunk further into the couch. "I don't want to do that again. I was hurting him!"
Alex put a hand on my shoulder, his amber eyes looking into mine with concern. I could hear him faintly whimpering like a puppy as his lips formed a small supportive smile.
"It gets better. I promise." He gave my shoulder a small squeeze. "And if you ever need it, you can drink from me."
I was taken back. Feed from him? There was absolutely no way I could do that!
"Alex, you don't have to do that. I'll be okay."
Alex positioned himself on the couch so that he was in the same laid back position I was in. I don't know how it happened, but I somehow ended up leaning on him and fell asleep.
A few hours later, I heard Violet crash into the room, startling Alex and I awake.
"Jesus!" She shouted. "I can't stand another minute here-"
Her eyes were fixed on Alex and I who were both lazily laying against each other.
"Well, well, well." She teased. "Now I know why you got so defensive in the cafeteria, Lucy. I didn't know you two were a thing."
"We're not a-" I began to defend myself but Alex growled at Violet telling her to leave before I could explain.
Violet smirked and turned on her heels, flipping her hair in the process. She used her magic at a distance to pull the two of us apart.
What was her problem?
"Why didn't you say anything?" I asked with a hint of frustration in my voice.
We agreed that we would always be friends, but that wasn't exactly written in stone.
"Was I supposed to?" He smirked.
I punched his arm and he chuckled.
"What's so bad about us being a couple?" He asked. "Everyone seems to think we are, so we might as well make it known."
Is that what everyone thought? Has no one ever seen coed best friends before?
I couldn't exactly say no. Besides, I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel anything towards him. He was aggressive, but gentle. Free spirited, but protective. Not to mention attractive.
"I guess." I responded. "But is now really the best time? I haven't even talked to my family in three days."
