Dayu's POV

As soon as we opened the door, the air that greet me already tasted like dessert, sweet and spicy - pumpkin pie!

"Hello welcome to The Griddle. Would you like a table or booth?" I saw her look at us with amusement and smiled widely. We decided to take a booth and she led us to a booth beside the huge window.

"Here you go, gentlemen. Your waitress will be with you guys in a minute. Enjoy your meal and have a nice day!" The host chirped happily and walked away.

I scanned the place before looked over the menu. "How do you know this place?" I asked Qing.

This place was freaking amazing! It was really big for a Café and looked like just a diner, but they only served pies, pancakes and light sandwiches. There were a lot of tables and booth with one cute retro lamp hanging above every single one of them. And those big glass counter at the front that displaying mouth-watering pies rounded it all up, this place was my new favourite.

"The pack house was only a few blocks away. I stumbled upon this café once, tried it and can't get enough of their pies." He chuckled softly. I guessed Qing really liked pies.

"Hello my name is Johanna and I'll be your waitress this morning. Do you know what you want or do you need another minute?" The waitress licked her lips while starring at an oblivious Qing as he looked at me, smiling still like a cute wolf he was. Bitch.

Her lips looked like they've been sucking too much lollipops. She tried to nudge Qing with her fake boobs, which were practically spilled over her shirt. But I quickly glared at her and entwined our hands and put it on the table, giving her a clue 'Back off bitch, he is mine'. Qing's smile turned into a smirk as he squeezed my hand tightly. She looked at me with disgust. She took our orders quickly and stormed away.

Couple of minutes later, a different waitress came with our orders. We ordered two slices of pumpkin pie, a big portion of egg sandwich, a cup of coffee for Qing and hot chocolate for me. Oh my god, Qing wasn't joking about their pie. They smelled heavenly. The cinnamon colored filling delicately wrinkled all the way to a golden crust. And the butterscotch ice on top was out of this world. I quickly dig in and in a matter of minutes, it turned into an ex-pumpkin pie.

"Oh my god, that pie was freaking delicious!" I told Qing as I patted my full stomach.

Qing laughed out loud. "You sure you don't want another one?"

"Nah, I'm good. I'm stuffed already." Qing was also finished with his pie and now digging his egg sandwich. We talked a lot about werewolfs and his family, well I did the questions and Qing answered them all. I had too many questions about them. Then I paused. I had this question on my head and it kept bugging me all morning. I was about to ask Qing, but I turned really nervous and started fidgeting.

"Hey, Qing..." Ugh, I sounded so nervous. He looked at me with a questioning eyes. "What are we now? Are we together?" I meant, I knew I was his mate. Last night we nearly kissed, we slept together, and we were holding hands the entire time. But this confused me beyond measure.

He tilted his head and was silent for a long time with his brows furrowed, looking like a confused puppy. Then his eyes widened as if he got enlightened. "Fuck! I'm sorry Dayu, I am being insensitive again." Now he confused me more.

"When werewolves found their mate, they feel a really strong bond and can't live without each other anymore. They were basically married to each other even before they completed the mating bond. Werewolves neither ask their mates to marry nor celebrate it. But you are human, and I forgot the fact that human need something, an act or a token, to be completely assured."

"Wait, I do feel the mating pull. I always feel the tingly sparks everytime we touch. I feel really attracted to you and I trust you like I never trusted anyone before even after only a couple of hours knowing you. We even slept together."

"Yes baby, but I know it's still not enough." He held my hands and squeezed them gently. Then he led me out the booth, paid for our food and went out the café. We left my car and walked to I didn't know where. He kept silent even though I asked him several times 'what the rush' and 'where are we going'.

After a couple of minutes walked, we reached a flower shop. Qing bought a single stalk fake red rose. A fake? I tried to ask him but, again, he said nothing. Then he led us off the main road onto a dirt road and surrounded with trees. From afar I could see a big modern house, no, it was more like a mansion. It looked like three stories high and went on for what seems like miles. Whose house was it? Then it clicked. This must be his pack house.

We didn't go into the house though, he led me to the garden behind it. My jaws dropped at the sight right before me. It was like a magical garden, with bonsai trees lined the lawn in wooden boxes. In the center there was a pond as large as a small lagoon with lily pads floating on. There was a huge wooden bridge that crossed the pond so you could look down at the big koi fishes.

But we only walked through the beautiful garden and stopped at a rose garden. Red and white full bloomed roses surrounded an outdoor patio. Qing took a gardening scissor from the patio and started cutting white rose stems until he had a bouquet of 11 white roses. Then he placed the fake red rose in the middle of the bouquet and he strolled over to me. Finally after half an hour full of surprises and silence, he asked me,

"I built this rose garden for my mate when I was 15. Do you know what red and white roses mean?" These two sentences from Qing left me lost for words. I only shook my head.

"White rose symbolized innocence and purity, also means a new start, new beginning. And red rose means I love you dearly."

Somehow at this moment, my mind went blank. I didn't know what to think. Without breaking the eye contact, Qing took a step closer and gave me the rose bouquet.

"Feng Jianyu, my baby, being in love used to seem like such an exaggeration, but not since I fell for you. When I say that you're my soulmate and I'd do anything for you, I'm definitely not exaggerating. You deserve the world, and I know I can't give that to you. So I'll give you the next best thing: my world. And I will love you until the last rose dies." I didn't realize I was crying until Qing wiped the tears from my cheek with his thumb. He smiled brightly, then his next sentence not only left me speechless, I cried harder.

"Be mine?"

"Yes! YES!" I jumped to hug Qing and he caught me right away in his warm embrace. His hands caught me gently behind the neck. He tipped my head up and lowered his lips on mine. He pressed his lips to mine, softly but firmly. I closed my eyes and melted as my body was consumed in that kiss. His lips were warmer and softer than anything I could have imagined, yet fierce and powerful at the same time.

Then he moved one arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him. I could feel the rapid beat of his heart, I could taste the sweetness of the pumpkin and cinnamon mixed with the lingering caramelly and smoky coffee aroma on his mouth.

I wound my hands into his hair, feeling them curled around my fingers. Silky and fine. His fingers slid down the back of my neck, tracing its shape. And every place they touched was electric. At the first kiss I felt something melt inside me that hurt in an exquisite way.

When we broke apart for air, I rested my forhead against his and gathered the much needed oxygen. We gazed at each other longingly. His eyes were gold but turned again to deep blue, I guessed his wolf was trying to push forward. It was sexy as hell how his deep blue eyes would have gold swirling on it.

Oh, neither of us cared about bouquet that fell from my hands, because oh.my.god. I just had my very freaking first kiss! And it was with Qing, my first boyfriend and the man I loved.

Then I realized that I had never told him how I actually felt. I started to build beautiful sentences in my head, I was determined to tell everything I felt to Qing. From the moment I saw him and the way I felt I could trust him with my life to our first kiss that made the sparks turned into fireworks. I had everything prepared in my mind and I was ready to tell him, but when my mouth opened, I blurted out only three words,

"I love you!"
