Chapter 27 : Betrayal

Qing's POV

Waking up could be really harsh, especially if you weren't a morning person just like me. But after I met Dayu, I loved waking up early. I would just lay down beside him; watching him sleeping, hearing his soft breath right beside me.

I looked up at my phone one the nightstand; 03:59 am, one minute before my alarm went off. Quickly I turned off the alarm, gave Dayu a kiss and went to get ready for the patrol.

Five minutes later I already outside, stretching my body in the front stoop. The world was still silent and dark as if time stopped since last night. Birds hadn't start chirping and the air was cool and fresh. From afar I could see Dad and Papa walking towards me.

We were talking about this yesterday privately after the pack meeting. Dad and Papa won't be patrolling with us today, they would stay with Dayu. Actually there were guards securing the house but I couldn't trust any of them right now. If the vampires could go inside our territory easily, they must get a hand from inside. We had moles inside our pack and it could be everybody.

After they got settled inside, I shifted into my wolf and ran to the pack house. In the backyard around thirty warrior wolves were already waiting for me, including Jedd and Kyle. I split them into two groups; first group led by me while I let Kyle to handle the other group.

Jedd was my beta, he should lead the group but he declined, saying he had a bad feeling today and decided to stick close to me. I wanted to yell at him to act so childishly but I swallowed it, it was still too early to ruin my mood.

We ran around the forest in our territory and found everything was in control, nothing out of ordinary. Around an hour later sky had softened to a blue and the clouds were blushed like a ripe peach. Birds started hopping from one tree to another as the sun started peeking up from behind the mountain. But suddenly my ears perked up, catching some noises from behind the trees.

>Jedd, you hear that?< Were they rogues? I couldn't smell anything.

>Yeah, someone's there. No, I think it's more than one. Should we attack right away? I don't think the other notices.<

Before I was able to reply Jedd as two wolves tried to jump me from the side but my instincts defeated their tactic. I jumped backwards avoiding their attack and finally I could see them clearly, the rogues. One by one the rogues were revealing themselves from behind the trees, baring their teeth and snarling at us, cornering us and ready to fight.

I mind-link the guards to make sure everyone at the pack house was in the bunker but I got no answer. Panic set in and I mind-link Dad immediately.

>Dad, go to the bunker with Papa and Dayu now! The rogues are attacking us. Check on everyone at the pack house, the guards didn't answer me.<

I growled and lunged onto the nearest rogue by surprise and planted my teeth in the back of his neck, squeezing until it dropped to the ground. With that the rogues started attacking us, fighting and tearing at each other.

>I'll check on them. Tell me if you need help<I heard Dad replied through the mind-link. My worries for the pack members faded away, I was now fully concentrated on the fight. I teared into the flesh of a rogue heading toward me, scratching his back and tearing his skin open causing blood to spill out.

I threw my head up and howled, alerting the rest of my pack members of the attack.>Kyle! We have a rogue attack, bring your group here right now!< Kyle and the other should be howling back right now, signing that they would come to fight. But I got no reply and no howls back from the other group.

The whining from my left got my attention, I saw the smallest wolf from my pack being circled by six rogues. I took off toward him and head-butt one in the side, throwing him into a big oak tree making him whined loudly. Three of them turned to me, growling and snarling, while the other two were being taken care by Jedd.

I leapt up and landed on ones back and clawing at him, leaving a long angry scratch mark down his back and blood started flowing out. While thrusted my canines into his neck, one rogue bit my back leg making me yelp in surprise more than pain. I quickly snapped the ones neck in my mouth, spin around and swiped at his face, leaving claw marks on his snout. He turned his head, leaving his neck exposed. I took full advantage of it and killed him.

The one I threw before was back and angry. He came over with multiple rogues and a few wolves from my pack, surrounding me, all snarling and snapping at me. What the fuck? They all were betraying me? I looked over at Jedd, he was still fighting a few rogues on his own. He still got it under control but it wouldn't be if there were more of them and only two of us. They who betrayed me would get a taste of their own medicine.

I stood tall, puffing out my chest and growls threateningly. My growl distracted them and I saw an opening. I charged toward the biggest wolf and sank my sharp teeth into his shoulder as he ripped into my front paw. Growling in pain and anger I removed my teeth from his shoulder and he dropped my paw to move away.

From the corner of my eyes I saw the other rogue lunged at me and I immediately turned around to use my hind legs to kick him and send him flying into a tree. Without wasting any more time, I ran to the dazed wolf and sank my teeth into his neck, I gave it a quick shake and he was dead.

All of a sudden I heard howls and one of the wolf from Kyle's group said through the mind-link. >Alpha! The vampires are here! Our group is being attacked by vampires. Kyle is nowhere to find and we already lost a lot of our memb-.<

The mind link cut off abruptly. Fuck! Something must had happened to the wolf. Suddenly I felt claws ripping into my back. I yelped and snapped my jaws in the rogue's face. Then he did something I was expecting. He flipped onto his back, throwing and crashing me underneath him. He opened his mouth to take out my neck, but I used this chance to claw at him from chest to stomach and immediately blood gushed out onto me.

I kicked him to the side and suddenly a brown familiar wolf lunged onto me. I kicked him with my hind legs right before he clawed my neck. He was thrown backwards but quickly stood up and shifted into his human form. Then I saw him again, the one who hated my mate, the one who disobeyed me, the one who I despised so much, the one and only Ethan Black.  

"Long time no see, Alpha Wang Qing. It was a shame I wasn't able to cut your neck, but that's okay, I have a better idea for you." He smirked at me.

Right at this moment I scanned the battlefield and see a few of pack members and rogues were lying bloodily, lifeless, on the ground. Jedd was back into his human form, being pinned to the ground by a few of our members. What the fuck was going on here?
