We're all guilty of being human
All our hands are stained blood red
From the guilt of being what we areEvery single person, woman, man, and child
Offenders, victims, people of all colors and time periods
Alive or dead, young or old,
Beyond the culture, the politics, the economics
Down at the core
You're a human being like the restSome were buried in the place they lived their whole lives
Some had monuments crafted to house their bodies
Some were lost in a place of conflict never to be recovered
Others were burned, drowned, killed by the hand of others and the hands of themselvesBut no matter the story we're all flesh and blood
Blood is thicker than water
And the river built by humanity is trailing red
Stained by its own makersWe don't get to pick and choose
Who represents us
And who doesn't
We all represent each other
Even through the ignorance and the painAt the end of the day
You and me
Are just humanMaybe you've been hurt and damaged beyond repair
Maybe you've hurt and broke others like play thingsThe ones you hurt
May never forgive you
The ones who hurt you
You may never forgiveBut we must forgive ourselves
It's a hard pill to swallowBut no matter the time we were alive
Even if only for a brief few moments
Or for years too long to count
We all had a mind
A story
Nothing was left blankThe details and endings of each story
Are all different and unique
Yet all the same
They all began
With the exact same line
And it read"I am human and this is my story..."
Learn to forgive others
Learn to forgive yourself
Love yourself
And love anotherChange the world
With understanding
And patienceLet violence, anger, ignorance be your lesson
On how to lead a better life
We are all human
And we're all in this together
Beginning to ending
