A week has passed since the confrontation with Mr. Colin and his untimely arrest. The officers didn't contact Taylor nor Emily for the first few days, but eventually they did with unnerving news. Mr. Colin had finally met with his appointed attorney. They went to their initial court hearing to know the charges against Mr. Colin and a preliminary hearing date was set for today, October 15th. It was determined that there was enough evidence to convict Mr. Colin of his crimes, and so it was then said that he would receive an arraignment date within the next few weeks. While that went on, the group of friends had to resume their normal lives while the fated day came for them to rise up against Mr. Colin. Even through this while ordeal, the friends acted as if nothing was wrong because it was the only thing they could do to keep calm about the whole situation. Emily and Taylor distanced themselves from their friends though, sticking close together at the dorms after school. Jane and Anne were left out, but because they couldn't understand what the two had gone through they kept to themselves as well. Rocky and Alix stopped spending much of their time together after Rocky admitted to how she saw Alix. The whole group seemed to break off slowly and painfully during their time of wait. No one dared to speak about it to one another because it was such an uncomfortable and negative topic to bring up, so they stayed that way until the another week went by.
"Taylor... Are you glad that we went against your father? I'm sorry for bringing this up after promising not to talk about it, but after coming forward I think I feel worse about everything..." Emily whimpered in the corner of Taylor and Jane's dorm. Taylor didn't answer her, but got up to seat herself next to Emily to comfort her in some way.
"I've been asking myself the same thing..." She mumbled, "if you weren't here with me Emily, then I wouldn't have... It's because you were here that I did... It's my fault that he hurt us in the first place... I'm sorry for what he did to you... I'm sorry... I'm so so sorry... I treated you so horribly for the past few years only because I didn't want him to think that I liked you anymore! I was scared that he would hurt you even more than before..." Taylor admitted, pressing her head onto Emily's shoulder. She cried quietly, covering her face to prevent Emily from seeing her. Emily frowned, leaning her head onto Taylor's as well.
"I figured as much... It's fine Taylor... It's in the past. Honestly I prefer you doing that than letting your father..." Emily shut her mouth, pursing her lips together tightly to prevent herself from saying anything more. Taylor stopped to look at Emily, keeping a single eye covered. Once she noticed how upset that Emily was still, Taylor turned completely to grab Emily and hug her tightly without saying anything else.
"After all I've put you through how do you not hate me?" Taylor asked, "I wish that I could be as understanding as you are... I'm sure that why I fell for you when we were younger... You always had the better head on your shoulders and you never tried to start fights... You are the exact opposite of me in most things..." Taylor sighed with a giggle. Emily chuckled lightly before turning away to hide what she wanted to say. Taylor pressed her hand up against Emily's arm, leaning in to settle herself back down.
"We should probably go to school today... I don't think they will let us stay here any longer... Plus I'm sure that Jane and Anne are really worried about us." Emily said, standing up quickly. Taylor kept her grip on Emily's arm, causing her to fall face first onto the ground when she suddenly tried to get up. Emily left the room first without waiting for Taylor and immediately headed for her and Anne's room. When she got there, Emily went into the room without knocking and was met with an empty room.
It is past eight... Anne definitely went to school today... Taylor was acting weird today though, so I should probably let Jane know... or maybe not... She may not be too happy if I tell her...
Emily hopped into the shower and got dressed as fast as she could afterwards. Before leaving, she made sure to give food and water to Lumi and to give him a little love. When she got done, Emily rushed out and went to school to hopefully finish out the rest of the day. The whole rest of the day, Emily received many disgusted and giddy glances by those who had somehow found out the reason behind her absence.
"Isn't that...?"
"I heard that she..."
"Wow is she really a...?"
"I knew that there was something up with her..."
"Who knew she was such a big slut!"
They all laughed behind her back, pointing out every single one of her flaws. Her face reddened, filling with both misery and anger. As she was about to lash out, a few recognizable figures stepped forward. That said, it wasn't Anne or her other friends. It was the three other top scorers from the school's initial test from the beginning of the year. George Vox, Riley Wick, and Joey Alderman stepped in front of Emily, scaring off the other students who had been poking fun at her. Once they left, Riley and Joey turned around to check on her.
"Are you alright Ms. Ross?" Joey asked, holding out his hand to shake. She placed her hand in his, nodding in reply. Emily was about to speak, but Riley cut her off and bumped Joey out of the way.
"Back up Joey! You're obviously making her uncomfortable! Honey, are you alright? Can I get you anything at all? I can have George go get it for you! Right Georgie?" She asked George. He turned around and gave her a nasty look before giving her an obscene gesture.
"Hell no I ain't! Go do it yourself! I didn't even wanna come over here, you made me! Fucking idiot..." George hissed, facing back towards the empty hallway. Riley groaned and looked to Joey who returned her plead with a sigh.
"Fine... Go take her to the nurse's office so we can chill for a little bit. Make sure that George comes along though." Joey said before walking off to grab some water and food from a nearby vending machine. Riley took both George and Emily in arm and hurried to the end of the hallway where the nurse's office was located. No one was in there, but they went in anyways and sat themselves onto the few beds that were in there. Riley sat herself next to Emily with a big smile on her face.
"I feel like I haven't seen you in forever! It's only been little over a month though, huh? Wow, what did you do to your hair? I love it! Did you get highlights? Oh hey-"
"Jesus, Riley shut up and let her speak! The poor girl is scared out of her mind after what just happened and here you are asking about her hair! Just shut up you damn bimbo!" George yelled at her. She rolled her eyes and turned back to Emily, waiting for her to speak.
"Thank you for helping me... I thought I was going to hyperventilate and just... It's been a long few weeks... I don't think you know her, but do you know if Anne Johnson is at school today?" She asked them. The two exchanged confused and disappointed looks before turning back to Emily.
"No. She hasn't been here for about the same number of days you've been absent. We all figured that you and your friends were together this whole time. Are they not?" George asked, bending over in the bed. Emily shook her head no and covered her mouth.
"I've only been in touch with Taylor... Where could they be?"
